Learning 2: AI = Dystopia or Utopia?

When starting the MIT Executive class on "How AI will shape business strategy", I was not enough aware about the AI possibilities that can unfold. It is common to read 2 extreme narratives: the "dystopian view" where AI takes over the world, and the "utopian view" where AI handles all our work. Hence my curiosity...

My learning is that neither of these scenarios accurately reflects reality. While AI is "artificial intelligence", Humans are "natural intelligence", not always so predictive and perfect! This is our collective magic!? So, the only simple things I came back to, is to focus on what I can control...

The AI-Revolution is ongoing (not a choice I can control). My focus will then be on understanding it, embracing AI with curiosity:?

• How can it save "me" from having to perform tedious repetitive tasks?
• How can it increase my productivity? While AI is taking care of redundant tasks how can I reuse my energy to have impact elsewhere?
• How?can people (incl. me) connect to create more "intelligent" organizations?
• How can I be vigilant about privacy settings, ownership rights or addressing data biases?

Maybe much like how we approach Global warming by concentrating on actionable solutions that I control...
