Learn.Grow.Evolve.Become...Tread a new path

I set off alone towards my goal, but, people came along and it began to turn into a caravan!

(A famous verse by Urdu poet and lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri)

My years of professional journey as an employee brought me to the realization that I am better suited as an entrepreneur. The desire to be my own boss acted as a catalyst for embarking on my first venture into the realm of entrepreneurship in the year 2018.

The day of my first venture's launch coincided with International Women's Day, which prompted me to contemplate the perfect way to embark on this meaningful endeavor. I was driven by a deep desire to instill a profound sense of women's entrepreneurship, coupled with the paramount goal of raising awareness about the environment and propagating the notion of the circular economy. Eventually, I decided to host an event by inviting a group of predominantly micro-entrepreneurial women from the local area. The event focused on repurposing waste plastic, showcasing the incredible artifacts they created from this discarded material.

Glimpses of the event

To my surprise, the response following the event was truly overwhelming. As I mingled with the participants, I noticed their eagerness for me to continue organizing activities that would assist them on their entrepreneurial journeys. It was through this interaction that a spark of inspiration ignited within me, leading to the birth of an idea. I conceived the notion of conducting brief interviews as a means of providing valuable insights and guidance. With this concept in mind, I embarked on a new chapter in my journey.

My journey began with an unwavering determination to empower women in the realm of business and ignite their entrepreneurial spirit. Recognizing the immense potential that lay within them, I embarked on a mission to provide them with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities they needed to thrive.

Simultaneously, I harbored a deep concern for our fragile environment. Witnessing the rapid depletion of resources and the escalating environmental challenges, I yearned to make a meaningful impact.

As luck would have it, I encountered Violeta Bulc amidst my journey and was incredibly impressed by her profound knowledge, remarkable humility, and her steadfast mission and vision for Ecocivilisation. At that moment, I experienced an epiphany and felt compelled to align myself with her. We have organized successfully a series of webinars together, beginning in the year 2021 to date - to challenge the linear "take-make-dispose" mindset that perpetuated wasteful practices and harmful environmental impacts. Through education and advocacy, we aimed to foster an understanding of the value of reusing, recycling, and regenerating resources. By promoting the principles of a circular economy, we aimed to inspire individuals and businesses to adopt sustainable practices and transform the way we interacted with the world around us.

With these two compelling passions in mind, I forged ahead to bridge the gap between women's entrepreneurship and environmental sustainability. Through various initiatives and programs, I sought to inspire women to take charge of their own destinies, equipping them with the necessary skills and support to succeed as business leaders.

Few pictures from my journey

As time passed, my endeavors began to bear fruit besides immense learning- featured numerous remarkable and influential women from diverse corners of the world, over 70 countries (Women Entrepreneurs, Activists, Deputy Prime Ministers, Ambassadors, EU policymakers, Film directors, and UN Women representatives & Artists), stupendous network, beautiful connections across the World and above all, a sense of purpose- by witnessing the progressing women who had once been hesitant to venture into the entrepreneurial world were now flourishing as successful business owners. The impact of their achievements reverberated throughout society, inspiring others and dismantling the barriers that hindered women's progress. Simultaneously, the message of environmental consciousness seemed to have taken root, with communities embracing sustainable practices and embracing the principles of a circular economy.

The journey to instill women's entrepreneurship, raise environmental awareness, and proliferate the concept of a circular economy has been arduous but immensely rewarding. It was a testament to the power of determination, education, and collective action. With each step forward, I became increasingly optimistic that our world could evolve into a place where women thrived as entrepreneurs, the environment flourished, and the circular economy became the norm.

My mission entails delving into the convergence of women's empowerment and the circular economy. It extends far beyond mere awareness, encompassing tangible actions at the grassroots level to foster economic empowerment and enhance capacity building. In my forthcoming post, I eagerly anticipate sharing with you the inspiring success story of the next milestone achieved.

For sure, this topic is crucial for our future and especially, for the lives of our future generations. The interesting thing is that due to new angles and new reports, some of older ideas show to be wrong, and we must rearrange our thinking and adjust our actions. A piece of work (of the European Court of Auditors if I remember right) on the low effectiveness of recycling of plastic for ex. was an eye opener for me…

Thank you Rajni for the work you are doing to help women of various backgrounds become more visible, pay tribute to their work, and give them the floor!
