Are “LEARNERS” successful in every decade?

Right from Aristotle to Vasco da Gama, Lincoln to Einstein, they all started with a curiosity to learn something and then discovered something amazing / unique which has benefitted the entire mankind and created history. Are you ONE in the MAKING...as Leaders are discussing Sustainability, Digitalization and Innovation in board room meetings!!!!!

I still take pride to call myself a student, a learner and to remain a learner for life. If you observe, a learner collects learnings from every aspect of life - from the lessons of ants to the rabbit- tortoise race story. The curiosity of this nature should remain intact to look into the broader picture of life.

Remember the story ASK ASK ASK... This story has changed my graph as a SALES Professional.

Importance of Learning:

Many of us have witnessed “Global Recession, Economy downfall, Dotcom Bust and many such crisis. My personal takeaway is that whether you are a " MANAGER" or "LEADER" . individuals, companies survive through VUCA world because they never stopped re-learning, re-skilling, upgrading or enhancing their skills. They not only out perform their current assignments but are given additional responsibilities as well.

If you see, a learner is always a well- rounded person who speaks from their experiences.

Subject Matter Experts are proactive and practice what they have learnt and pass on to every generations to come. I am an ardent follower of Soft Skills and hence I give a lot of importance to the word “PROACTIVE”. Today - Thursday - 22nd October, 2020 I am conducting a session on" Soft skills are POWER SKILLS".

The goal for any learning intervention is to change the organization positively. Sustainability of any Intervention that we undertake be it employment or leadership development programs needs commitment from stakeholders.. Today Leadership needs are complex, fast paced and global which needs structured training, mentoring, coaching interventions. Hence organizations must understand how employee development is MUST to retain values, strategies and purpose of the organization. CHANGE Should happen from the TOP of the pyramid.

Principles of Learning: Einstein said that" we cannot teach anyone anything, we can only help them to learn.. In essence this is the core of any professional trainer to understand and work. Our modules and interventions are based on the same principals.

Recommendation for the fraternity:

Our research of a decade and personal interaction with SME's, growing organization across Tier companies.

Companies who work on the principal that L & D is a investment have seen exponential growth.

Learning & Development Intervention is a structured process to retain employees. A learning environment is imperative in the current VUCA World. Hence, it is should not be only HR responsibilities but also Business and functional mangers to explore training needs of their team and prepare them for better tomorrow.

LEARNERS have to adopt training as there personal and professional KRA. In my opinion if you have to grow exponentially and be employable training is excellent tool to excel holistically. My 4 stints in 25 years is the best example that I share with Undergraduates today. Simple action point is to START EARLY., Be committed and implement what was learnt in the training class.

Students:

Please note that along with your technical and technology skills... "Soft Skills, Life Skills, Behavioral Skills plays a very important role .. whether you are drafting your RESUME, during Interview process handling a team or taking strategic decisions for your department. According to me all these are SURVIVAL Skills.. to GROW and EVOVLE.

I read somewhere that every successful personality holds a habit to read something or other in order to upgrade themselves from one minute to another. This is the most important competencies of HIGH Achievers. I remember this from my good old days, that a knowledgeable person is the one who is more dangerous than the people who holds power in room, as he is well read and well versed with the concepts, in case you have forgotten Chanakya and “Birbal Ki khichdi story”.

During our Learning and Development Interventions we give a lot of importance to basics and concepts. Be it a Technician, teacher, researcher, pilot, mechanics, let’s say any profession, function can outdate you if you are not proficient in Soft Skills, leadership skills, life skills. Sales Professionals: Today on November 19th October, I was listening to a video, and thought of sharing with you that the word "LEARN" includes the word EARN... so when we makes sales call if we don't close the sale.. but we learn something from the prospecting and that according to me is the great learning that you can acquire.. It is my personal experience that I hope will keep you motivated while making a SALES CALL.

Details of the Pic in this article: Our client is an International dermatology company dedicated to innovating skin disease solutions, aesthetic & corrective products with 34 wholly owned affiliates and over 5500 employees. We have created modules on Custoner Service, Motivation and personality development for their new joiners (Sales / Medical Representatives) during their Orientation Programs.
