Learned how to Resolve a Rubik's Cube

(I learned how to resolve a rubik's cube on May, 2019.)

I had a rubik's cube when I was a child, however I never resolved it. The best achievement was just resolving one side. At that time, nobody taught me how to resolve it, and I didn't know that most of people couldn't resolve it without any trick/hint.

It's about two months ago, on a dinner table, I said the reason I didn't choose math as my major in university was only because my spatial imagination was really bad. Suddenly in last month, I decided to learn how to resolve a rubik'cube to improve my spatial imagination when I read the article The Founders Of The World’s Five Largest Companies All Follow The 5-Hour Rule. I would like to try to learn something in the area where I don't feel comfortable.

Thanks to internet, I learned the tricks and am able to resolve in several minutes now. I know it's not so good compare to professional gamers, but I am happy that I finally could resolve it 30+ years later, and even more happy that my kids love to play/resolve the rubik's cube too.

Here are some thoughts I learned from learning resolving a rubik's cube:

  1. The first step to resolve a problem is to know whether there is a smart way to resolve.
  2. If your solution looks ugly, it's better to search for experts' help.
  3. Encourage other persons to work with you together to resolve the problem even they are newbies too. It will increase the time cost, but it's worth in most of the cases. You are going to have more than one experts when you are done the work, and there are other great benefits to you and your team.
