Learn For Your Future, Care For Your Community

Learn For Your Future, Care For Your Community

At ZilLearn, we love what we do because we are on a mission. A mission to integrate the right form of technology into learning so that everyone has equal access to education. This is why we created the 'Learn and Care' Campaign - to support the Singaporean community that is in need.

We shared our mission with The Salvation Army, one of the 12 partner under this campaign, who serve the underprivileged including the migrant workers community, in Singapore.

If The Salvation Army's advocacy work resonates with you, we invite every ZilLearn Plus subscriber to nominate The Salvation Army and we will then donate S$50 to them.

Here's a recent story of a Salvation Army beneficiary; Arjun who through The Salvation Army's The Sojourn Program was able to thrive despite the pandemic.

Will You Care to Help Migrant Workers Just Like Me?

Arjun left his family behind in India and came to Singapore, to work as he desperately needed to repay his family's debts. However, when COVID-19 struck and a nationwide lockdown was imposed, Arjun's work at a construction site was put on hold.

For many months, Arjun only received a basic salary. It was an extremely stressful period for him as he was worried about repaying his mounting debts and caring for his family. Feeling trapped in his dormitory with no one close to confide in, Arjun began to lose hope.

Before the lockdown, our team at The Salvation Army Sojourn befriended Arjun when he attended one of our social activities. When our staff called to check-in on him during the lockdown, he was very relieved to hear form us. To help ease his despondency, we provided regular counseling over the phone and through virtual meetings. We also sent him care packs containing snacks, fruits, bread, and energy drinks to lift up his spirits. Touched by our concern and support, Arjun has been encouraging his friends to join our activities and services to receive necessary assistance.

The pandemic is not going away any time soon and it takes an emotional and mental toll on many of them who are far away from home and have debts to pay.

The Salvation Army's advocacy work extends beyond the Sojourn Program. It actively serves the underprivileged, migrant workers, and survivors of human trafficking and exploitation in Singapore.

If you want to support their work, subscribe to ZilLearn Plus and nominate The Salvation Army to be part of this change.

With every nomination, we will then donate S$50 to The Salvation Army.
