Learn, Unlearn and Relearn.

Learn, Unlearn and Relearn.

You are your own master and only you have the master keys within you to open up your inner locks. Let us take an example of Jahangir Khan, former World No. 1 professional Pakistani squash player. Since he was physically weak and doctor advised him not to take part in any physical activities and was not selected by Pakistani selectors but he entered the world amateur individual championship. He trained himself day and night and he made it by winning the youngest world amateur championship, youngest British open and world championship, 10 times British open championship, 6 times world champion, and played consecutive matches for 5 years and 8 months which is the longest winning streak of any sportsman. Moral of the story is that he kept going because he decided not to give up and open up his inner locks.

According to researches, 50% of staff learning comes from job experience including coaching, 30% from guest-focused training, 20% from life experience so that’s why investments in staff improvements need to be multi-faceted i.e. The Organization Learning formula.

The illiterate of the future will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.

Unlearning is a new strategy where you learn again by letting go of the old and be creative and innovative. It is about examining your beliefs and modifying your behavior accordingly, it is also about asking for feedback in order to gain an accurate sense of how other people perceive you and which actions to unlearn. Furthermore, it is about being a risk taker to seek out new experiences and coming out of your comfort zone. Lastly, it is about nurturing yourself which means taming the ego allows you to make mistakes, even fail and still feel good about yourself.

In conclusion, Employee experience is an important factor for organizational learning success. There are various ways to create a learning culture for your team such as Reward continuous learning i.e. nurturing critical thinking, Open meaningful and constructive feedback i.e. problem awareness, Focus on curious people i.e. hungry mind, Kickoff by example i.e. involve them, Opportunities seekers i.e. Create options of formal and informal learning and Nurturing talent i.e. patience is the key.
