Learn at Scope: our award winning e-learning platform
Learn at Scope is a free and interactive e-learning platform. It offers employment and skills-focused courses designed for disabled people across England and Wales.
And now, it's the proud winner of the Employment Related Services Association (ERSA) Digital Solution of the Year award!
There are a million disabled people in the UK who are able to and want to work but cannot secure or retain a job. For many years, disabled people have faced huge barriers in entering the workforce.
In 2020, when our employment support services moved online due to pandemic restrictions, referrals to our online employment services soared by 230%. It told us that a strong online presence was critical to meeting demand. So, with support from HSBC, we launched Learn at Scope to give customers access to self-select courses that are right for their needs and goals.
In the first year, customers completed 940 courses. And 172 Scope employment service customers moved into employment after using Learn at Scope.
And now, since August 2023, customers have completed a further 1,729 courses and 213 have moved into employment.

A snapshot of recent recruitment successes shows that the courses are supporting individuals to apply for jobs, interview, and enter the workforce in a variety of roles. This includes HR administration, healthcare, animal care, legal, catering, customer service, software development, and so many more.
Collaboration with the disabled community featured heavily in the design of Learn at Scope and the user testing of the learning content. The customer voice is key to the future of the platform. Digital feedback and in person focus groups continue to inform the development of the platform and the course content on offer.
Through feedback, we know that Learn at Scope benefits disabled people in a wide variety of ways. The platform can be accessed at times that are better suited to the customer. Being able to work through the content at home or a preferred environment is a benefit to many. This flexibility provides an inclusive learning opportunity for customers who are not able to engage in a service that is at a set time or location and to those who find it hard to engage in a group or a 1:1 session.
Customers have control over how content is presented to them and how they learn.
Learn at Scope is providing a tailored, flexible, and inclusive service. Customers are moving into varied types of employment with an increased confidence in how to talk about their disability and request reasonable adjustments during the recruitment and onboarding processes. This leads to a better employment experience for both the customer and the employer.
