YOU are marvelous! Although it may appear superficially to be the opposite, we are as unique as fingerprints in our distinctive ways. The diversity of human nature is vastly miraculous! What could be more vital than unraveling the mystery of YOU?
To reveal your true self, your glorious divinity, you must first identify and remove barriers to solving your problems and let go of emotional attachments (which are caused by countless traumas, big and small, and high expectations of self and others). Then, Dear One, you can enjoy the uniqueness of each individual. Change your attitude from furious to curious! It’s possible and can be quite amusing instead of frustrating.
When my shorts get in a bunch over perceived shortcomings, I have learned to let go, center myself in my heart, and switch gears. Your inability to see the whole picture of reality and your resulting judgments can really screw up your relationships. Remember William Shakespeare’s timeless message: “All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players†acting out our parts, however poorly.
How we view each other is truly a choice. Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel inspires me. He wrote: “Dear Lord, grant me the grace of wonder. Surprise me, amaze me, awe me in every crevice of your universe. Each day enrapture me with your marvelous things without number. ... I do not ask to see the reason for it all: I ask only to share the wonder of it all.â€
Humans are Marvelous
Let’s start by changing our attitude toward our fallible fellows. How do we experience a greater sense of wonder toward humanity when we see so many of their faults? None of us can see the Big Picture of the full range of reasons that people incarnated as they did. As an enthusiastic spiritual student, I have worked diligently to get a glimpse of past life situations and karma. When I received gifts of insight, it increased my ability to feel compassion, let go, and move forward. Understanding the reasons for being and how the internal universes operate can provide grand leaps toward accepting the wonder and marvelous mystery of life.
Life exists because of karma: to learn lessons, to pay off debts, to receive payments from others’ debts to us, to love each other, and to elevate spiritually. None of that requires that we meet other peoples’ expectations or that they meet ours. Funny how we get so many things backward in our ignorance and stubbornly insist that we are right just because we have a viewpoint.
Everyone has been traumatized. Our main jobs are to accept reality, heal from our traumas, learn what we need, discover our strengths and weaknesses, practice skillfully dealing with each other, and just be happy. I invite you to be happy for no other reason than you are a marvelous, gorgeous Soul! Believe it. See it. Feel it.

Appreciating Marvelousness
The hard work you have already done to become the best person you can be is marvelous! Your inability to see clearly does not subtract from your marvelousness. Wouldn’t it be a gift to look into your eyes in the mirror every day and say, “I am marvelous. I am soul. I am love. I am loved.†Then to look into other people’s eyes and say silently to yourself or aloud to them, “You are marvelous. You are so wonderful. You are love. You are loved. I love you unconditionally, just the way you are.â€
That kind of dialog is so healing! We can learn so much from master teachers, like from Mr. Rogers’ heartfelt compassion, passion, and appreciation. Maybe we can’t change the Big Picture, but maybe we can. We can certainly make a difference in our own lives and in the lives of those around us.
You are not as stuck as you may feel at times. Feelings can be wonderful, challenging, and fickle, changing quickly like the weather. You can choose to love yourself and others regardless of your feelings. What is your commitment to seeing the marvelousness in yourself and in others?
