Learn How to Expand Your Organic Reach on Facebook

As a business owner, you probably understand that marketing on Facebook can be quite a challenge. Yet, why is that? It’s because of something called organic reach.

If you aren’t sure what that is, organic reach is “the total number of unique people who were shown your posts through unpaid distribution.”

As you can tell, reaching a group of people without paid advertising can be tricky, even for those who consider themselves social media specialists. In fact, according to a recent study, it was revealed the average Facebook page post was only reaching 2.6 percent of people!

So why is this happening? Two reasons: competition and relevancy. With the former, your brand has a lot to compete with to try and stand out among the masses. While Facebook News Feed is only showing content it thinks is most relevant to you.

To answer the big question—how then, do I expand my organic reach at an affordable cost?

First off, posting multiple times a day is not the answer. The algorithm is looking at the quality of the content your post rather than how often you are posting.

Take a look at Insights if you’re not sure what your audience finds high quality. What’s performing best? Is there a common trend? If so, do more of that, and consider putting a small dollar amount to boost a post. Even five to ten dollars could help immensely.

Additionally, don’t just post during business hours. Many users are on Facebook during their personal time. Experiment with different times, including weekends.
