Elysha has recently kick started her career by doing an apprenticeship in PR and Communications at the age of 18. After leaving college, she was unsure whether to continue to university or to find an apprenticeship. She chose to do an apprenticeship, so she can learn and grow on the job.
What do you do?
“I am currently working as a Communications Assistant whilst I undergo my apprenticeship. This means I have a wide range of responsibilities which can include writing for business and brand communications, writing for the media, delivering and evaluating internal and external communications, managing budgets, raising brand awareness and reputation by managing and monitoring the businesses social media and so much more. Essentially, I am the eyes, ears, and voice of Accrol!”
Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?
“I’ve always loved to be creative, but I struggled to pin down a specific area that I wanted to follow as a career. However, when I started to research different career paths that I could take, communications really stood out for me. Being passionate about being creative within design and writing, I thought this apprenticeship would be the perfect start to my career journey.”

What have you gained from it?
“Being an apprentice means I get to learn new skills and earn a qualification all while gaining hands-on experience and applying my knowledge in a real role. I’ve also met lots of new people at Accrol and it’s been amazing to see how passionate everyone is about their work.”
What advice would you give to anyone considering an apprenticeship?
“Do it! An apprenticeship is a valuable experience that can really help start your career in the right direction or to upskill in your current role. Learning ‘on-the-job’ means you have a huge number of opportunities and one-to-one support that is provided from your employer and your apprenticeship provider.”
