Learn From A Conflict

Yesterday I have shared my thoughts on different types of conflicts and some of my thoughts on that. Before proceeding further read this article first - https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/pradiptagure_conflict-conflictmanagement-activity-6866953164550107136-b-CJ . This article would be based on the recent #DevVsCp topic. If anyone is unaware of that, you may skip this article.

It is an enjoyable moment for the spectators when conflict occurs in public. One might be outraged by someone's opinion, but internally it gives their mind a dopamine boost. Entertainment is ok when you want to consume it. But if you are not even aware that you are consuming entertainment, it is not good for you. On another note, you can convert any entertainment content into a learning one. Here is my take on this -

Why DevVsCP is entertainment for majority?

Raj, Striver, Kunal, Soumyajit, Utkash, and every other one who is creating great content for developers - A grand salute from my end. 11 years back when I graduated from college, these kinds of quality content were not available easily. Data costs were also too high and we were not even aware that data structure is so much important for a developer. So, irrespective of content whether it is free or comes at a cost is good for a learner( I am not using the term 'student' here because experienced professionals also can learn from these contents).

Now I will come straight to the point.

  • Everyone in this world has a personal moral code.
  • Everyone in this world has a selfish gene. Unless and until it becomes toxic, it is not noticeable.

Is it good to misguide people? Of course not. But almost every content creator does that. If you notice every content creator's thumbnail, you can easily find the false promise they give. As an example, Love Babbar, Kunal said that they are promising that everyone will get a quality job easily, after going through their course. Is it even possible? Do they believe in their statement? Of course not. Unless and until a developer puts in his effort it is impossible to get a job by watching a course. But every content creator(it applies to every human being) makes a personal moral code that is favorable for them. They think that it is for the greater good. It is not bad either. What my point is that there is a thin line between what is good and what is bad. It's all relative. Kunal went ahead and created controversy because he thinks it is for the greater good. Others added ghee to the controversy because they also think that they are doing it for the greater good. Now, this became a game where students watched it from the gallery. They took sides and started commenting on everyone's posts. Spectators were also selfish because most of them were commenting on popular content creators' posts just because it will add visibility to their profile. It became a toxic waste of time for them. When they should have gone through the masterpieces of the content creators they invest time in searching youtube content about the controversy.

Now coming to the point on why this controversy went so personal?

You can divide this controversy into different age groups -

  • Experienced professionals with more than 7-8 years of experience
  • Professionals with less than 3-4 years of experience
  • College grads

Experienced professionals with more than 7-8 years of experience

This group of people is quite mature enough. They understand what is going on. That's why you did not see any comment from Aman Dhattarwal, Gourav Sen, Rahul Pandey, and everyone else. Even if they say it, they say it in a polite manner.

Professionals with less than 3-4 years of experience

This set of people are more mature than college grads. That's why you will see a better response from these guys. These guys did not attack family, did not say 'Gadha', did not say Kunal as 'Chunal'. Still, this group of people cannot end controversy unless and until they prove their point or someone loses respect badly. The moment Kunal went to family and said 'Gadha' other party already won the battle and they put down their sword.

College grads

At this age, you cannot expect maturity like the other two groups. At this age, if you provoke someone they will lose their control. At this age, if someone puts a finger at you, they will comment personally. 'Chunal', 'Gadha' are a few points to prove my point. So, does that make them evil? Of course not. Does that make them arrogant? Of course not. Once they become more mature, it will automatically come down.

I hope I made my point. This is my personal opinion. I can be 100% wrong. You have every right to disagree with me. Please let me know your thoughts on this. I become happy when smarter people disagree with me and I could learn from them.
