Designer Jo?o Paulo Monteiro, who has been developing solutions in the area for over 10 years, explains that the way people use digital platforms is previously thought out to follow flows on several levels. "We research visual and cognitive stimuli, which are the actions that users make within the platform. What are the biggest movements they make with the mouse on the screen? How many clicks or taps do they make? How do these users like your menu? Do they find it easy to find the buttons? This is what we call flow. It is the path the user takes until he or she finishes a certain action.
Monteiro points out that to develop a digital product, such as a social media application, market studies, visual architecture platform trend analysis, and user experience research are conducted. "We create a profile of the users and the client. What kind of profile does the client want to be for its users? What stimuli would users like to have within a platform? Our research is always focused on visual and cognitive stimulation," he adds.
Two axes stand out in the area: UI Design and UX Design. The first is the development of computers, applications, machines, mobile communication devices, software, and websites with a focus on user experience and interaction. The second, on the other hand, is the process of defining the experience a user would go through when interacting with a digital product or website.
Designer Brenda Bezerra, who is part of a new generation of designers in the area of technology, points out that prior testing is fundamental to formulating a digital product. "It's important to study a lot about experience and people. First, understanding people makes us designers who think of solutions to solve other people's problems. Understand how people are affected by application interfaces, and study a lot about it."

"The design part starts from the very beginning of the project. The client may have an idea or want to build a new product, but doesn't know where to start. The professional designer enters as a great investigator, analyzing the context of the idea and from that is responsible for doing the whole process of research, validation, proposition," she says. "From this part of construction, the designer is also responsible for the look of the application. Besides the whole structure behind it, the buttons, the colors, and everything that is visually placed in an application is thought and worked on by the design professional," explains Brenda Bezerra.

"Instagram and TikTok are adopting a much more strategic language, visually and of their flow. That's a good strategy, because TikTok has a video scrolling format just like the Instagram feed. And this was already something usual, which made it easy to adapt to TikTok. This happens with many platforms that emerge over time, since this is a strategy that works to keep users," says Brenda.
"Usually the market asks us to follow the standard. And sometimes we want to suggest a different standard. But sometimes the users themselves ask us to do it the way they use it most. The person doesn't want to spend five minutes reading to get to the end of an action. They want to do it in five seconds," comments Jo?o Paulo. "What I want the most is that we, in the technology business, can be a little more careful with our users and pay more attention to people. Especially their physical and mental health," he concludes.
