Learn to Add Value to Others every day!

Learn to Add Value to Others every day!

There are different ways we can add value to others. It can be practised daily. You don't have to make a daily financial investment to do so. It is as simple as sharing a message of encouragement or a compliment which can magnify someone's strength. A message you share on a social platform could also be a way to add value to others. Some of us are very good at sharing words of discouragement and negativity, while many daily intend to add value to others by sharing positive messages and hope.

Last Monday, I had the opportunity to attend a LIVE session by Dr John C. Maxwell. He shared some key lessons from his father noble life. His father Melvin Maxwell passed away peacefully after 98 years and eight months of a beautiful life which continuously added value to others. By listening for 45 minutes, I realised there are some important messages, which I should review, reflect and share. I hope by reading this, it brings you positive energy on what we can do to makes the lives of others better, because of our presence. I have had the privilege to meet with Melvin Maxwell in August 2016, in Orlando, Florida, where he gave a keynote speech at the International Maxwell Certification event.

To Live a LIFE of adding value to others, below are my key takeaways from the session as mentioned above.

  • Every day do three things well; Add value to others, Believe in People ad Unconditionally love them.
  • Built a habit of consistency; That's where the magic is. Do what you do well every day, practice, practice and practice.
  • Stay focused: Do what you love and stay focused and don't let you go off the track. Often people get off track, and in most cases, it happens because they are not focused. Don't lose your focus as a result of a petty critic point from someone who never experienced or understands why you are doing what you are doing.
  • Live with your Purpose: Find out why you do what you do. As long as you know your purpose keep going.
  • Live Intentionally: Wake up with an intention live a happy and get through with positivity during the day. If something triggers that you may not like, let it GO!

Three stories have impacted me, and I intend to learn and practice them;

Forgive and pray for a better future: There was a specific time in the early years of Melvin Maxwell, one particular day when he attended a School Board meeting, all Board Members gave him a hard time on a specific issue. After the Board Meeting, Melvin Maxwell came out, took a moment and prayed for those who gave him a tough time during the meeting. He prayed for them to be great thinkers and to be blessed so that things can move forward for a better future.

"You are my new neighbour; I have been around this area for a longer time. Welcome to our neighbourhood. Please let me know if there is something I can do for you to make your lives better in this area". This is precisely what Melvin Maxwell used to say to any new neighbour that will move into his home area. He would visit them, introduce and offer his service and selfless approach of guiding them to settle and become friendly neighbours. What a blessing for those who may have shared the neighbourhood with him.

I hope by reading the above, it enlightens your mind to be a human being who add values to others every day.

Life is too short to live a day without adding value to others.
