Learjet Incident at Livingston Airport
A Royal Air Freight Learjet 55, registration N558RA, experienced a runway excursion on January 11, 2024, while landing at Mission Field Airport (LVM/KLVM), Livingston, Montana. The jet overshot the 1738-meter-long asphalt runway 22, sliding approximately 500 feet into a ravine on private property. Both pilots emerged without injuries, despite the aircraft sustaining substantial damage. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident, with preliminary assessments suggesting possible brake failure. Current investigations are focusing on data from the jet's black box to ascertain the exact cause. Helicopter Crash in Mediterranean Sea
A Robinson R22 Beta II helicopter, operated by GreenBees Helico and owned by HELEX SARL, registration F-GJYB, crashed into the Mediterranean Sea near Mandelieu-La-Napoule, France. The incident occurred during an initial training climb from Cannes-Mandelieu Airport, around 300 meters off La Playa Chica beach. Both occupants, an instructor and a student pilot, were found deceased at a depth of 35 meters, still strapped in their seats. The helicopter, manufactured in 2000, sustained irreparable damage and was declared a total loss. Extensive rescue efforts were deployed, including maritime and aerial units. Multiple Complications on IFL CRJ2 Louisville Approach
On January 10, 2024, an IFL Group Canadair CRJ-200, registration N821FL, experienced an emergency during its final approach to Louisville, Kentucky, USA. While operating flight IF-1015 from Thief River Falls, Minnesota, the crew aborted the landing at approximately 2500 feet MSL, citing, "a whole bunch of stuff popped up on us," including an unsafe nose gear indication. The aircraft, after a 25-minute delay to address the issues, safely landed on Louisville's runway 17L and was subsequently grounded for 12 hours.
