Earlier this week, we at Panasonic India launched the next generation of full-frame mirrorless cameras - LUMIX S5II and LUMIX S5IIX. It was a physical, experiential event here in the capital amidst all fanfare. It was a special one for me, as I am extremely passionate about photography and try to capture moments with #ShotStories . As soon I got to know about the latest addition from LUMIX S series, the photographer in me couldn’t wait to try it out (but more on that later).?
If you ask me there were two key takeaways from this launch. The all new LUMIX S5II takes a giant leapfrog from its predecessor to venture into a differentiated route. First - aimed at its Target Group (TG), and the second through its Design Philosophy.
Answering the novelties of content creation industry
The first aspect i.e., the differentiated target audience today, majorly comprises of video/photographers from wedding, filmmaking, fashion, music, and long-from content. And, if I were to pick one aspect – wedding, which itself is a Rs 3.78 lakh crore industry has so many picturesque aspects to it. Be it those vibrant, colourful attires, the flashy décor, the bling jewellery or, those critical, emotional moments - Indian Wedding is a photographer’s buffet. And, I believe, in the current, creator economy, production and distribution of creative content will continue to proliferate with the abundance of reliable technology.

Behind every unique and unfiltered content will be a great camera!
This brings me to the design philosophy of the new camera. At Panasonic we have always believed in our founder’s philosophy i.e., to democratise technology. LUMIX S5II is a yet another example of that. Keeping the evolving needs of creator economy in mind we’ve developed our latest camera. It highlights three key aspects – Performance, User Interface (UI) and Reliability & Durability. The new phase hybrid auto-focus with powerful image stabilization system, a new imaging engine, real-time LUT and several distinguishing features define the performance aspect. The compact form factor with a digital interphase offers excellent operability and functions to minimize workflow for one man crew operation ensuring a smooth user experience. Reliability and durability are further ensured as the camera has been designed for tropical, weather conditions. For instance, S5II’s heat management technology ensures that there is no limit in recording time due to overheating. The new heat dispersion mechanism combines a small fan and high-efficiency heat sink to keep the camera cool. Magnesium alloy full die-cast front / rear frame, splash-resistance, dust-resistance are some of the other features that makes it weatherproof.
As I write this edition of #WeekendMusing my mind’s wandering, as I can’t wait to try out the LUMIX S5II. I have already made a mental note of the moments that I’d like to capture. May be in one of the next editions I will post my #ShotStories from LUMIX S5II.??
