Leapers Semiconductor Expands E0 Family of SiC Power Modules
Leapers Semiconductor
Innovative developer and manufacturer of power semiconductors, SiC and IGBT modules for power electronics applications.
According to the market researches performed by many companies, solar will be among the top growing markets in the next ten years. With the increasing demand for green electricity, solar power market experts predict over 20% compound annual growth rate for the industry in the coming years. However, growth of the industry in great extend will depend on the efficiency of the photovoltaic systems. Even though many consider solar power as the most preferrable because of its obvious benefits of easy and quick installation almost anywhere at a relatively low cost, yet it has many challenges to face.
Of course, the major one is weather conditions. Weather changes can lead to fluctuations in power supply generated by the solar panels. The efficiency of the solar panels themselves play a very important role. However, the efficiency of the solar inverters, converting direct current from the solar panels to alternating current before transmitting it to the grid, is even of a greater priority today. And to guarantee the efficiency of the inverters, power electronics engineers have to be sure that they use the right power electronics components. Power semiconductors are the most critical components used in the solar inverters, and the more efficient semiconductors are used in the circuit, the less power losses the whole photovoltaic system has.
Previous generations of the solar inverters relied on silicon-based semiconductors, however, with the rapid growth and mass introduction of silicon carbide devices it became possible to design more compact and efficient inverters. Today manufacturers of solar inverters are searching for the ways to deliver new generation systems with new generation power semiconductors. And many of them give their preference to SiC power solutions.
Leapers Semiconductor’s wide SiC power modules portfolio includes many solutions for the solar power industry and solar inverters in particular. E0 series SiC power modules are perfect fit for solar inverters with its high grade Si3N4 AMB substrates that combine best mechanical robustness with excellent heat dissipation properties featuring very high-power densities. Unlike the competitors E0 modules feature epoxy resin instead of silicon leading to 3x and higher power and thermal cycling characteristics.
And today Leapers Semiconductor is expanding its E0 family with a new SiC power module - DFS26HH12EYQ1. DFS26HH12EYQ1 is an H-Bridge SiC MOSFET power module which integrates high performance SiC MOSFET chips designed specifically for solar applications. In the same package it provides 50% higher output current rate compared to the available solutions from the other market players.
With DFS26HH12EYQ1 you get:
·???????1200V blocking voltage
·???????175°C maximum junction temperature
