Leap not Retreat | Story of a frog who saw the world outside

In the comforting solitude of a secluded well, a small frog found its joyous world. It led an undisturbed existence, delighting in the simple bounty provided by its isolated environment. A constant supply of insects to feed on, a cool damp atmosphere that suited its amphibian nature, and the peaceful echo of solitude made the well the frog's lovely home. Its life felt complete, unchallenged, and content, tucked away from the vast, intimidating world beyond.

One day, a great rain poured and the quiet well the frog called home swelled up, almost overflowing. For the first time, the boundaries of the frog's world expanded, unveiling the realm it had never known existed.

Its wide eyes gazed upon towering trees, their leaves glistening with fresh droplets of rain. It watched as children splashed in the puddles, their laughter piercing through the rhythmic patter of rain. A world full of life, color, and adventure lay just beyond its old, stone fortress. The sights, the sounds, the vibrant vivacity of the world outside sparked a profound realization within the little creature.

Now standing on the verge of its well, the frog faced a momentous decision. It could retreat to the familiarity of its well, maintaining the status quo, or it could leap into the unknown, surrendering to the allure of discovery. We, as HR professionals and coaches, often mirror the role of the rain in this story. We come into the lives of individuals who are confined within their own #paradigms "wells". (Ready my article on Paradigm Shift here https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/babubhaskaran_paradigm-shifts-activity-7060535120302157824-wfL1). These wells could be their comfort zones, areas characterized by a fixed mindset, fear of failure, lack of self-confidence, or lack of vision for personal or professional growth. However, our role diverges from the rain's ephemeral presence. We do not merely #catalyze the first step and depart. We #persist, working closely with the individual to showcase the possibilities and opportunities that lie beyond their familiar well. We are instrumental in '#CreatingEpiphanies', facilitating paradigm shifts like the rising water levels, and '#CreatingAWhy' to deter them from reverting back to their wells.

My emphasis in TRUST Coaching (https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/unlock-growth-mindet-trust-coaching-babu-bhaskaran/) is epitomized in frog's #LeapNotRetreat story. TRUST stands for #TruthfulFeedback, #Responsibility for development, #Urgency, #Supportive resources, and #ToughLove. This model aims not only to inspire individuals to take that crucial leap out of their well but also to arm them with the necessary mindset and tools to navigate and appreciate the abundant world outside, and more importantly, to sustain this change.

Just as the rain triggers transformative change, our goal is to establish a persuasive 'why' for individuals to maintain their position outside the well, continually evolving, growing, and unlocking their latent potential. If you need further insights or are interested in discussing how the TRUST model can be fine-tuned to align with your specific goals, I am here to support and collaborate with you. Together, we can build a coaching approach that fosters trust, stimulates growth, and encourages profound development.
