Leaning Into The Arc Of Your Career

Leaning Into The Arc Of Your Career

As I settle into this career phase — my encore — I’m reflecting on how your professional life has arcs.

I am on the downside of that arc regarding workload but on the upside regarding mental clarity and happiness.

I’m working less but, at the same time, working smarter, and with more focus than ever before.

I’ve always been selective about my clients, but now, I’m even more so.?

I work only with those I can significantly help and where I feel a sense of comfort and mutual respect.

While this attitude has always been part of my ethos, let’s face it — sometimes the temptation to chase a paycheck led me to work with people I didn’t quite connect with.

What a joy now to have the freedom to say no.?

No to clients who don’t align with my values or my passion.?

Yes to those who do.

It means I can dedicate more time to the clients I take on, dig deeper into their challenges, and deliver even better results.

The other day, someone asked me what gets me up in the morning.

It’s simple: I love helping small business owners, especially coaches and consultants, who aren’t sure how to brand themselves or communicate their value.?

It’s exciting to take a career with seemingly disparate experiences and create a coherent, compelling story.?

For me, it’s solving a puzzle.? I find order in the chaos, pulling all the pieces together to fit perfectly, making people sit up and take notice.

Speaking of taking things slower, I’m going on vacation next week — our longest one in years.

We’re going away for 9 days, and it’s a reminder that winding down isn’t just about work. It’s also about making time for life.?

I won’t write posts while I’m away but will try to schedule some content in advance. I want to embrace the balance I’ve created.

So, what about you? What gets you out of bed in the morning? Please share in the comments
