Why do so many who could know better if they tried, obstinately keep peddling Lean Six Sigma when with a just a little bit of research they would find that these concepts are just a fragment of full TQM and Hoshin Kanri. Is it because they want to be on a bandwagon or are they at their limits? I suspect the former for most. You can fool all of the people some of the time but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time. These fads will pass. Then it is back to BOHICA. Look that one up! TQM and Hoshin Kanri have both stood the test of time.

6 年I don't now....30 years of Lean / Six Sigma seems like it is more than just a fad.? Also, TQM is just a part of Baldridge,? - And TQM is not the only approach that is acceptable.? Of course Hoshin-Kanri is subsumed in that model too.? Pity peddlers of TQM (which is widely accepted as a failed paradigm) and Hoshin-Kanri can't see that with just a little more effort, a comprehensive Performance Excellence system is right there!? ; }

6 年What annoys me but there is nothing you can do about it, is where after having acquired some 50 years hard earned experience in something, you choose to tell the world by writing a book. It is a hard slog and you could earn a lot more just by doing your job but you want to share what you have learned. Almost the first people to read it are self seeking money focussed con men who suck out in no time at all most if what took you years to learn, misrepresent it with impunity and claim to be experts in something they never heard of a few weeks back. This does not bother me from my own point of view as I have become hardened to it over the years. It bothers me from the point of view of the innocents who are gullible enough to be seduced by their impressive looking diagrams and who in the end succeed only to deminish the true value of the knowledge they have plundered. Without the years of experiencd spent developing the work, these charlatans, because that is what thry are, can only possibly make a pale and often severely distorted representation of the subject and they never give credit to the sources of the words they use. Buyer beware!
