Leading the Way in Emission Reduction with Leistritz Twin Screw Pumps

In today's world, reducing greenhouse gas emissions is more crucial than ever. The oil and gas industry is under increasing pressure to minimize its environmental impact, and companies are looking for innovative solutions to help them achieve their sustainability goals. At Leistritz, we are proud to be at the forefront of this movement with our pioneering twin screw pump technology.

The API Initiative and GHG Reporting

The American Petroleum Institute (API) has established comprehensive guidelines for greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting to drive consistency and transparency across the industry. One of the key focus areas is reducing upstream flaring emissions, which are a significant source of GHGs. According to the API Guidance Document for GHG Reporting, upstream flaring emissions should be meticulously measured and minimized to achieve substantial environmental benefits.

Leistritz Twin Screw Pumps: A Game Changer

Leistritz twin screw pumps are designed with efficiency and sustainability in mind. Here’s how our technology aligns with the API’s initiative to reduce emissions:

  • Reliability: With a proven track record in various demanding applications, Leistritz pumps ensure consistent performance, reducing the need for frequent maintenance and associated emissions.
  • Superior Efficiency: Our twin screw pumps are engineered to deliver high performance with minimal energy consumption, directly contributing to reduced operational emissions. Our monolithic design and tight clearances enable us to deliver higher pressures and lower power consumption than the competition.
  • Emission Reduction: By optimizing the handling of well production, our pumps significantly reduce flaring activities, in line with API's Section 1.1.1.2 on upstream flaring emissions. They can handle both liquid and gas, enabling centralized processing and reducing inefficient gas handling in the field.

To further enhance emission reduction and operational efficiency, we offer two innovative solutions:

  1. Multiphase Blow Down Units (MBDU): During the lifecycle of a well, liquids may accumulate and throttle or stop production. Traditionally, companies have vented or flared these liquids. The Leistritz MBDU reduces well back pressure to near atmospheric levels by pumping fluids to higher pressure production lines downstream, keeping greenhouse gases contained within the system.
  2. Multiphase Pump Gathering Systems (MGS): In fields with multiple wells, traditional systems use individual separation units and compressors, which are associated with venting and emissions. The Leistritz MGS maintains containment, reducing the need for storage tanks and compressors, and minimizing emissions by moving the entire well production downstream to central processing facilities.

Measuring the Impact

As outlined in Table 1.1.1.3 of the API January 2023 Guidance Report, the volume of gas flared is a critical metric. Leistritz twin screw pumps are specifically designed to minimize flaring, thereby reducing the overall GHG emissions of your operations. This not only helps in meeting regulatory requirements but also positions your company as a leader in environmental responsibility.

Commitment to Sustainability

At Leistritz, we believe that true innovation goes hand in hand with sustainability. Our commitment to developing technologies that not only meet industry needs but also contribute to a cleaner, greener future is unwavering. By choosing Leistritz, you are not only investing in superior technology but also supporting a sustainable future.
