Leading with that Question
What would still seem significant or important at the end of your life?
October 31st, I attended Kathryn James 's "Leading Inclusively" training, where I gained valuable insights into EDI concepts, privilege, and bias in leadership. What I found quite astonishing was the sheer number of legislation in this area and yet somehow little change in practice with systemic, ignored and emerging inequalities still rife and notable to our group with the 13% Gender pay gap in further Education demonstrating that the Public Sector Equality Duty has a good thirteen years and counting to catch up.
November 1st, I led a Black History Month and Family Learning session for primary school children and their families. Together, we explored the themes of representation, self-awareness, and empathy. We discussed the power of them reclaiming their narratives and celebrating their unique qualities while acknowledging the impact on others. Challenging them the two questions I posed and for them to continue working on at home were:
"What would their next family generation honour and celebrate about them?"
and
"What would their mini-bio in years ahead say?"
November 2nd, Kemi Badenoch made history as the first black woman to be elected to lead a major political party in the UK. I then wondered how Kemi would answer the question, "What would still still significant and important at the end of her term?
What then came to mind is the issue of #EarnedTrust in Leadership and something I have been considering as part of my role as an Educator and part of the PQ Coaching Programme and #PositiveIntelligence by Shirzard Charmaine. Trust doesn't just happen as we all know and his Leadership programme/application Shirzad Chamine talks about #vulnerability as the 'currency of exchange for earning trust' in any relationship and the 'daring to be authentic; as Brene Brown teaches us and shows us that vulnerability is an act of courage and strength.
"Do you believe in yourself enough to dare to be truly transparent and authentic?" I loved this question when it was asked by Shirzad.
The Navigate power and application helps you to see what's truly important to you and what you ideally need and want n order to live a purpose driven and meaningful life. It removes the 'building castles on sand' as Shirzard says and as we see a world rigged with inequalities sitting on huge legislation.
I leave you with these questions:
2. What is NOT as important as it might seem?
3. What would still seem significant or important at the end of our term/life?
How energised is your Navigate power?

4 个月Thank you for the food for thought as always, Juliet! Having led neuroscience-based Unconscious Bias training in the corporate world I got disenchanted as purely theoretical training, even if it contains some calls to action and strategies to implement doesn’t eventually move the needle. What does, however, are experiential practices (call them meditations if you wish, as I do), that challenge our worldview and invite us to relate differently to others as well as to investigate our hidden assumptions and biases. This is why all my training now contains experiential practice as an essential methodology for implementing change. ????
