Leading with Purpose: Welcoming Babson’s MSEL Class of 2025

Today, we proudly welcome the Master of Science in Management in Entrepreneurial Leadership (MSEL) Class of 2025 at Babson College. This exceptional cohort, representing 29 nationalities, brings a vibrant blend of experiences and perspectives to our community. We are thrilled to have them on campus as we kick off Fall Orientation—a week filled with energy, meaningful connections, and the beginning of a transformative journey.

In my welcome presentation to the group today, I posed two key questions: What is an entrepreneurial leader? and What will you do that matters? The more I research the evolving role of AI in organizations and witness its impact on decision-making, innovation, and global operations, the more I recognize the critical importance of leadership that is deeply rooted in self-awareness, values, adaptability to change, and purpose—qualities essential for ensuring that businesses advance sustainable development and use technology responsibly.

The MSEL Class of 2025 has already begun to define their collective ethos by selecting four key values to guide their journey:

• Respect fosters an environment of trust and mutual understanding.
• Collaboration is essential for tackling challenges as a unified team, leveraging diverse strengths and perspectives.
• Accountability emphasizes the importance of owning our decisions and actions, ensuring integrity in all endeavors.
• Communication stands as the cornerstone for effectively addressing challenges together, enabling open dialogue and shared solutions, especially during difficult times.

Our MSEL program is distinctive in its approach to leadership development. It encourages students to understand their strengths and areas for growth, explore within global contexts, and translate theory into action through transdisciplinary experiential learning. Babson's entrepreneurial leaders thrive amid uncertainty, and guided by their values “create, grow, and steward sustainable economic and social value—everywhere .”
