Leading with Purpose: Get to Know The Women At Soreto - Meet Rachel

At Soreto, we're all about gender equality. So, for International Women's Day 2024, we chatted with the awesome women on our team to hear what inspires them and what gender inclusion truly means to them.

Meet Rachel Woodger , Head of Operations at Soreto:

1. Hi Rachel, tell us a bit about yourself and what you do at Soreto?

I am the Operations lead at Soreto. I love my role, it is diverse and challenging. It is wonderful to be a part of such a great team of individuals who each bring their own expertise and knowledge to the table to successfully grow our business. I originally come from a marketing background, but I have also worked in the Charity sector working in Afghanistan with amazingly talented artisans, many of whom were women.

This IWD, I am devastated that things seem to be getting progressively worse there. In my career, I have worked with some amazing women, the most resilient, brave, and funny being those I met in Kabul. Many of them did successfully escape to live in the UK, Europe, and the US, and while women still don’t always get equality in these places, I will never forget the privilege of living in a country where I have the freedom to be the person I want to be.

2. What is your proudest achievement whilst working at Soreto?

My proudest achievements at Soreto come from managing and mentoring such a brilliant team of Referral Specialists who impress me every day with their attention to detail and their dedication to excellence in everything they do.

3. Which women inspire you the most?

There are so many women who inspire me. For Business Inspiration, I look to Reshma Saujani, who founded the not for-profit Girls Who Code as well as Moms First, not only that, but she is a kick-ass lawyer and an advocate for women's rights.

Another woman who is a great inspiration is Michelle Kennedy, the Founder and CEO of Peanut, the dating App for Mums – both of these woman understand business and above all else women’s needs. They are both striving to make a difference for women.

In life, it’s got to be Dolly Parton for her talent, wit, and humour. My favourite quote from her is: "Find out who you are. And do it on purpose."

4. This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #InspireInclusion, what does this mean to you?

#Inspireinclusion for me means creating a business that allows every person to have the opportunity to reach their full potential. It is about supporting them to do this and understanding people are individual in their needs and their dreams.

Incredible thanks, Rachel! As we celebrate International Women's Day 2024, we are reminded of the strength and diversity within our team and the ongoing journey towards achieving gender equality. We remain committed to amplifying the voices of women and advocating for greater inclusivity in all aspects of our work and beyond.
