Leading by Listening

The essence of greatness and congruency in Leadership lies in their ability to listen without prejudice . Those who are entrusted with the responsibility of Leadership should not loose sight of the fact that it is a privilege to Lead rather than a right. When people ascend to the throne of power be it political , social or corporate they easily forget that they will be leading men and women who have been where they come from .

It is quite easy when suddenly you have a chauffer to forget that you once never even owned a car. When people look at those is power they are not looking fir grandeur but simply humanity , they want to know that you also suffer through life as they did and that you never ever forget where you come from . I have had an honor of observing Great Leaders and Bosses , the distinct difference is their sense of connecting. The Boss commands respect whilst the Leaders earns respect from his people by being a great listener. When a Leader spends less time talking and more time listening he/she learns amazing lessons and connects at a much higher level that those who contiunally speak.

I urge you to Lead by Listening more to your people's needs , aspirations , pains and their view of the future. Once you connect at that level people will bring not only their minds at work but their hearts .
