Leading a Life of Significance

Honoured for Leading a Life of Significance

The most recent update from my corner is something I am extremely proud of. On May 23, 2023, my wife and I were honoured at the Celebration Church for Leading a Life of Significance. The Celebration Church was launching a Leadership Exchange Program to promote impactful leadership among young Zimbabwean leaders. The program's theme is “Success to Significance!"

Guest Speaker: Anesu Daka at the Celebration Church Leadership Exchange Event

Many attendees, including Pastor Tom Deuschle, lamented the lack of bold leadership in our country. "There are many leaders, but there is no leadership," said Dr. Nigel Chanakira, who attended the event. It was a privilege to be invited as a guest speaker and an example of Significant Leadership at this historic event.

Pastor Tom and Bonnie Deuschle are without a doubt the epitome of a Life of Significance, having ministered to and developed God-fearing leaders both within and outside of Zimbabwe. Thanks to the?Celebration Church, I am confident that the program will produce more leaders of significance who are willing to take our country to the next level in their areas of influence.

Our Story of how we lead a life of Significance.

My wife (Tsitsi) and I are a team, and we have found a seamless rhythm to lead a life of purpose and balance. The goal of our participating in the Celebration Church event was to share how we are impacting beyond success as Anesu and Tsitsi Daka: how we live our purpose, our motivations, and the impact we have made so far.

How we live our purpose:

Our purpose is to teach, nurture, and empower others to achieve their greatest potential in their careers and entrepreneurial endeavours. We live this purpose through:

1. Providing high-quality vocational education that is affordable and accessible through sustainable social entrepreneurship.

2. Charitable support to enhance education capabilities of vulnerable individuals and communities.

3. Teaching and mentoring through lecturing, training and writing; and

4. Role Modeling through leading by example.?

?Our reason for being.

Our reason for being is driven by our purpose. It is also inspired by what the world needs, which is in line with our God-given talents. The education system has deteriorated, and there is far too much unemployment and failure rates?among learners. If this situation is not addressed, we foresee a social breakdown resulting in crime, drug abuse, prostitution, and civil unrest. We are doing our part, and we hope that it will create a model that can be replicated or turned into a national movement to abate this ill. We believe that regardless of our background, we all have the responsibility to make social investments and make a lasting impact. Our purpose and reason for being are as follows:

Economic enterprises do provide employment for others, and we are happy to do so as well as train others to be entrepreneurs. Through sustainable social entrepreneurship: we endeavour to solve the education and training challenges of society through high-quality, accessible, and affordable education. This is “OUR PATH”.

Our Impact

  1. Sustainable Social Impact - Chartered Accountants Academy (CAA) and Training Advisory Services (TAS)

Students at the Chartered Accountants Academy

We founded the CAA to solve the tuition gap for chartered accountants in Zimbabwe. CAA employs 70 full-time staff, +/- 100 part-time lecturers and has helped +/- 2000 CAs qualify as chartered accountants in the last 12 years. We provide technical training to practicing finance professionals across the region through Training & Advisory Services Chartered Accountants.

2. Garment Making Vocational Centre

My wife and I recently launched a Garment Making Vocational Centre to empower vulnerable men and women in our community. Our aim is to use vocational education to contribute to the eradication of drug abuse, prostitution, and crime as well be part of the national agenda for industrialisation. The focus of this vocation centre is to equip learners with a practical skill and provide them with the ability to create an enduring business venture using the skill.

? 3. Social Investment/Charitable Activities

Tsitsi and I started community-based charitable activities in 2017. Before then, we supported individuals in need, and we continue to do so. Social investment activities are carried out directly by us through our associated organisations. Tsitsi and I are co-founders of the Empower Foundation, an organisation whose mandate is to support the educational empowerment of vulnerable individuals and communities.

Empower Foundation School Project, Makonde, Mashonaland West.

We have supported 3 schools and 2 clinics in Makonde, Mashonaland West, with furniture and building materials, as well as community leadership. We recently adopted a Mapfungwe secondary school, which has 70 students and two teachers. Tsitsi is the patron, and we work closely with teachers, the School Development Committee, and the parents. One of our major contributions is leadership other than funding. We fundraise using our social and business network, and we are honoured for the support we receive from our sponsors as we deliver on this noble cause. We do this work with no political intention but rather as CITIZENSHIP responsibility, which we value highly.

?An honour to treasure

Our story was familiar to those present at the Success to Significance event. Many were either beneficiaries of our work, clients, suppliers, participants, or sponsors.

After the event, we left with many volunteers to support the community schools’ building projects. We are therefore honoured to have inspired many to find purpose and aspire for significance and impact. We are delighted to be part of a new chapter, moving from Pursuit of Success to Significance.

We are stewards of God’s purpose, through which we should endeavour to lead a life of Significance!
