Leading a fulfilling life: emotional nourishment and Ikigai

Our fast-paced lives, easy access consumer ways, global internet, beauty myths, family parenting and interpersonal and personal issues have contributed to an insatiable hunger.  Obesity, body image disorders of eating can be understood through the fact that most of us are emotionally isolated from ourselves and others and when this is true for us, this emptiness leads to painful cravings that need to be filled – and fast! 

According to the World health organisation WHO, there is growing concern that mental health issues can affect 1 in 2 people over the course of their working lives. That is way too many people. Obesity, diabetes, coronary heart disease are the top causes of death and these high numbers are a disturbing truth. We have lost our innate connection to physical hunger we are disconnected from our physical bodies our minds are split by internal harsh and conflicting voices. Dissociated, asleep, numb, split off, stressed out, too busy to stop, attention grabbed by the quick feeds for breakfast, lunch, dinner and every moment in between we turn to our Instagram feeds, our Facebook feeds, Youtube – bad news feeds. and so many emotional quick fixes are forged within our brains – another addiction to deal with through the dopamine hit we receive each time we get a like or believe we have a new friend and larger following.

Feeling lonely hurts and is a leading cause of mental health issues. Touch is therapeutic and having supportive relationships and loving relationships keeps us happier and living longer lives.

I invite you to take on my 30 day challenge an e.learning program based on mindfulness, compassion, finding purpose and meaning in your life through helping, caring and supporting others. I will be encouraging you to “take time out” to interrupt the usual feeds and to learn how to listen to your body cues - to differentiate between your physical hunger and emotional hungers and then to make choices for nourishing meals, exploring and tasting, savouring different ingredients that you experience as delicious. You will be creating your own sensational banquets that satisfy your whole being, body, emotion, mind, and soul.  (did you know that emotions are the link between our mind and your physical body. Emotions and hormones are the important messenger molecules that travel through the blood stream into various locations. Yes lets have a cup of tea and get to know our emotionaliTEA.

Leading a fulfilling life e.learning program, focuses on being wholehearted, having compassion and acceptance for yourself. Working out what motivates you to get up in the morning. What events or things in your life move you to tears, is that compassion, could that be your inner wisdom guiding you toward leading a more fulfilling life? This 30 day challenge will get you in touch with yourself, inspire you to cultivate loving relationships and to discover what your contribution is - your Ikigai. These three aspects of attention: Self; Others; and Contribution all combine toward leading a fulfilling life. This e.learning program is about you realising your interconnection with every thing and every body - an inspiration to find your tribe to collaborate as any compassionate ecologist does. Leading a fulfilling life means doing it, not just talking and thinking about it and sharing the journey.
