Leading with Data: The Importance of Data Analytics in HR (Part 9 of 9)

In the digital and technology-driven society we live in, the emergence of people analytics has increased significantly. Large companies and organizations have seen the value of data analytics in the success of their business, more especially when the pandemic entered and began to change a major part of our lives. As a result, data analytics has now become an integral part of the HR function.?

That being the case, we were extremely excited to hold an event regarding this subject matter which was entitled “Leading With Data: People Analytics in Talent, Culture, and DEIB”. Undeniably, this topic has a wide array of facets to consider that should be further strengthened and discussed. Hence, we have created 8 panels that will tackle different aspects of data analytics which are the following:?

1) People Analytics in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging;?

2) Beginning From The Beginning: How To Set Up A People Analytics Function;?

3) Understanding The Foundations of Data Analytics;?

4) Establishing a People Analytics Strategy: Processes, Methods, Indicators and Deliverables; 5) Engaging Business Leaders;?

6) People Analytics in Talent and Culture;?

7) Moving Forward: Advanced People Analytics; and?

8) Leading With Data: How HR Can Lead The Way Into The Future With Data.?

Within these panels, we invited HR professionals and experts from different industries in order to provide their own perspectives and insights about the topic that is assigned to them.

In the workplace, it is a fact that there will always be a diverse group of people working together. Every worker has their own beliefs, cultures, and upbringing in life that may differ from others. Therefore, it is important that we know how to deal with employees in order to avoid serious impediments that might occur in the future due to their differences. Last November 9, 2021, we were given the opportunity to have an insightful conversation with Shujaat Ahmad, Garvita Chaturvedi, and Nicholas Garbis wherein they tackled the subject of "People Analytics in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging”. For this panel, they primarily focused on the important role of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) in the workforce and also the dynamic partnership between People Analytics and DEIB.?

Moving forward, people analytics is considered to be one of the vital facets in an organization because they play a pivotal role when it comes to analyzing the workforce data. One of their major responsibilities is to enable the organization to manage their employees efficiently by observing, comprehending, and enacting talent data within the total lifecycle of employees. In this panel, which happened last November 9, 2021, the topic was "Beginning From The Beginning: How To Set Up A People Analytics Function" wherein we invited Luke Baboc, Andreas Kyprianou, Amit Mohindra, and Nicholas Garbis to become the speakers. They all shared their personal experiences and insights on the things that need to be considered when it comes to establishing a people analytics function.

?Living in a digital world in which nearly everything is propelled by data, the importance of data analytics has also become in-demand. With that, the next panel emphasized the topic of “Understanding The Foundations of Data Analytics”. With an intention of having a comprehensive understanding concerning data analytics, we had the chance to be with outstanding and excellent people to be part of this panel. We have invited Sheri Feinzig from IBM; Max Blumberg from Blumberg Partnership; Soumyasanto Sen from People Conscience; Littal Shemer Haim from Littalics.com; and Jordan Morrow from Pluralsight. From this discussion, the panel has shared their fruitful insights and arguments concerning the topic of Understanding the Foundations of Data Analytics.?

As the workforce continues to evolve and adapt to change, the people analytics strategy has also been increasingly essential in the HR function. Nowadays, the majority of companies are putting more investments in their people analytics departments as they have been viewed as a vital tool towards the company’s success and growth. For this panel, the topic discussed in this event was “Establishing a People Analytics Strategy: Processes, Methods, Indicators, and Deliverables”. We invited the right people who can share their personal experiences, knowledge, and perspectives regarding this matter: Trish Uhl, Consultant at Owl's Ledge LLC; Bejoy Mathew, Vice President at Mastercard; Filip Moriau, CEO at STRAGILON; Vaclav Koranda, the Vice President Human Resources at T-Systems Malaysia; and lastly, Kinda Nejem, the Head of Transformation & Products at Morpho.

Leadership is deemed to be the ability to establish and maintain a high-performing team. It is also usually the cornerstone resource for the team's efficiency and effectiveness. However, in order for this to be in full force, engagement should be the linkage between the leaders and the employees to produce a credible and well-founded team. Last November 9, 2021, we had an interesting topic about Engaging Business Leaders wherein the discussion revolved on focusing on engaging business leaders in making data-informed decisions. We were so delighted to have the opportunity to be with a remarkable panel which comprises of: Shujaat Ahmad, Director of the People Analytics - Future of Work at LinkedIn; Tim Peffers, Organisation and Talent Analytics Lead at Philip Morris International; Emma Woodthorpe, the SVP & CHRO of Mercury; Khurshid Anis, the VP - Sr. HR Business Leader of KeyBank; and lastly, David van Lochem, the CHRO of Group 42.

Moving further into the age of technology, the role of people analytics has also come into the limelight to the extent that it has become an integral part of talent management in HR. For this next panel, we had an amazing conversation with Kerry Brown from the Future of Work & Change Expert and Matt Burns, the founder of the BentoHR. For this session, they shared their own thoughts and insights 一 even their personal experiences, as well 一 regarding “People Analytics in Talent and Culture” especially since we are currently in a hybrid work environment.

Now that the majority of the business companies, firms, and organizations are cognizant of people analytics, let us now take a look at advanced people analytics. For this panel, we have invited five excellent and outstanding speakers that will share their insights and thoughts regarding advanced people analytics. We are excited to have been given the opportunity to be with Manisha Gupta of Oracle; Christian Busch of NYU & London School of Economics; Nicolas Behbahani of TechnipFMC; Tomeka Hill-Thomas of Mercer; and Ricardo Galan of State Farm. The topic that they will be discussing is “Moving Forward: Advanced People Analytics” and how important this is in the workforce.

As the last panel for the event of "Leading With Data: People Analytics in Talent, Culture and DEIB" we are extremely grateful to have been given the chance to be with excellent and great individuals taking part in data and people analytics. We have invited Trent Cotton of Bureau Veritas; Chris Havrilla of Deloitte Consulting LLP; Tracie Sponenberg of the Granite Group; Dawn Klinghoffer of Microsoft; and Michal Gradshtein of Starlinks to discuss further and share their personal insights about the topic regarding “Leading With Data: How HR Can Lead The Way Into The Future With Data”. Hence, this panel shared their insights on the things that HR can improve at connecting data with strategy and business outcomes in order to become the leaders that we are hoping HR to become.???
