LEADING WITH CONFIDENCE

LEADING WITH CONFIDENCE

If you are like me, you critique/second guess your leadership all the time.? This is OK because as I pointed out in a previous newsletter, evolution is essential to becoming a good leader and critiquing/second-guessing helps you evolve.

What’s not OK is letting the critiquing affect the confidence you have about your leadership skills.

Here’s a bit of good news: everyone has what it takes to be a good leader.?

To enhance your confidence, you have to be COMFORTABLE with what you are doing and how you are leading.

Step #1? Identify your values and understand WHY you hold them dear. Many adults can articulate their values, but a true understanding of self comes when one can articulate WHY those values are important to them.

Once you have identified your values and why you have them, consciously align your actions and words with them. Oftentimes, leaders attempt to lead in a manner that is not aligned with their values. When this happens, the leader does not reach their full potential, plus they ARE NOT CONFIDENT because they are playing a role that does not fit them.

Why do leaders lead in a manner that is not comfortable?

  1. Expectations of the organization. “This is how we lead here.” I say BS to that.
  2. Expectations of the team. How were they led in the past? Were they led or managed??
  3. They read a book with a title like “The 11 Steps to Great Leadership!” Great, those steps worked for the author, but if you are not the author, you can’t implement the author’s plan.
  4. Don’t realize they have in them what it takes to lead. They don’t know who they are or why they are that person, thus, they try to lead like someone else.

Leadership potential is in all of us.

Embrace learning about leadership (collaboration, reading, classes, etc.), but ensure you lead in a manner that is comfortable for you.

????With that comfort will come confidence.????

Do you want to learn to lead with confidence? Do you want your teammates to lead confidently?

We can help! DM me or email me at [email protected] and accelerate your leadership growth and that of your new leaders.

??This is leadership.

??You can do this.

??Good luck.
