Leading Change with VMware Cloud

Leading Change with VMware Cloud

In previous blog posts, I’ve highlighted my interactions with various key EMEA cloud leaders who have kindly joined me in recent episodes on my Connected in the Clouds podcast series. Their insights, coupled with the industry knowledge they bring, has been fascinating. It helps us build a picture of where organisations of all types are headed, whether they are commercial, government, military, educational, charity or other. They give us a view of what is happening in the market today, how the pandemic has changed – and often accelerated – the moves to digital across every type of organisation. Indeed, at the same time as the world scrambled to facilitate remote working, we saw leading organisations innovate faster, and more broadly, across the spectrum of the business.

My guests, as well as the customers I and my teams speak to every day, are calling out an increased – and increasing – pace of digital transformation, spearheaded by a rush to modernise and migrate applications. The applications themselves are changing, as is the landscape in which we build, run, connect, protect and manage those apps. Developers play an increasingly important role across all organisations, and their contributions to the success of the organisation is becoming ever more critical.

So we see a race to digital, to develop and refine new products to customers and consumers, to improve the service and experience of citizens and students, and to do all this in a secure, managed, compliant way.

But organisations simply cannot do all of this application and digital transformation at the same time, hence we need to make intelligent decisions about our application estate, old and new. Which apps are solid and therefore must be retained, which apps should we retire, which apps do we need to rehost, which are critical to refactor, which must we replace, perhaps transitioning to SaaS offerings instead? What timeframe will apply to all of these decisions? What purchasing metrics best suit our business objectives? And what will stay on our own premises, versus what will move to the cloud? Which clouds will we use?

I invite you to join us on April 1st for a 35-minute live event. Listen to leading VMware executives to learn how to unlock the power of any cloud for a new generation of modern apps. When you’ve heard the high-level strategic vision, which is backed up by our experience with thousands of customers around the globe, I invite you to dive deeper with labs, Cloud City demos and technical experts to explore how turn your digital business vision into reality.

In addition, we will introduce a new (licensing and purchasing) program, initially previewed at VMworld 2020, that enables our customers to consume key products and solutions exactly as they choose and as meets their requirements. On premises or in the cloud, deployed as installed software or consumed as a Service, whatever works for YOUR organisation. And it’s flexible enough to adapt to your changing needs over time.

Register now for our live event to learn more and chart your apps and cloud future. I look forward to seeing you there!
