Leaders....make time for exercise ??

Leading a company means being at the peak of your performance—and that should include fitness and health.

In the book?Change Your Habits, Change Your Life, author Tom Corley studied successful people, including business leaders and self-made millionaires. He found that 76 percent of his subjects spent time exercising every day.

It makes sense, given that being a CEO requires mental focus, cognition, and the energy to lead others—all skills that are benefited by exercise. Research shows that exercise?improves memory and cognitive function, promotes better sleep and reduces stress hormones.

If you are a professional climbing the corporate ladder or an Executive trying to grow your business, it's easy to get snowed under and put exercise on the back burner.

So how do you make it so you manage your work, social life, family time and exercise?

  1. Make it a part of your schedule. Put your exercise sessions into the diary just like any other important meeting. Unless you do this, exercise will inevitably get pushed aside for work or family commitments.
  2. Find a type of exercise you enjoy. The key is to see the progression. Just like putting in the hours and watching the fruits of your labor come to fruition, seeing progression with your exercise is vital to keep interested and feel rewarded. A combination of lifting weights and cardiovascular exercise is going to be best for improving energy, cognition, strength, and future-proofing yourself.
  3. Find your best times. Figure out when you will be most willing and likely to exercise. If your phone starts hopping by 10 am and doesn't stop until 6-7 pm, perhaps morning sessions will be your best bet.

Future-proofing your body through exercise is going to ensure that all the hard work you have put into your company, pays off. If you don't take care of yourself today, you won’t be able to celebrate your success long-term.
