Leadership Values: Introductions

Leadership Values: Introductions

You have finally progressed to where the term "leader" is being thrown in your direction. After years of progress the hard work, initiative, and perseverance are paying off. The organization has bestowed quite the challenge to tackle. Here comes that ever so crucial project on the horizon! With little to no experience in overseeing professionals, the time is NOW to sculpt an outline for future success! Let's begin by developing your introduction.

The first place to start off any relationship is with a simple introduction that covers a few key areas that any team can build upon. Here, coworkers can delve into your travels which seeded this opportunity. There is no mystery behind past experiences, wins and losses. (They heard the rumors, trust Mee! ??) The True Leader can present themselves as an honest, forthright person who authentically understands how the leadership position was achieved. Yes, that educational milestone was critical. Indeed, the mentorship received from an old colleague greatly deepened your real-world knowledge. Of course, everyone has already heard about that project which fell off the rails. Use these examples as a way to relax the team, accepting that failure is only a stone's throw from brilliance. Understanding that helping each other achieve team success will overflow into personal gains.

?

With introductions going around it is essential for the True Leader to absorb what is being said (and not said ?? ) by other team members. It's normal for many people to hold back during these initial contacts. Verify the information being communicated through reliable sources, vetting those on the team. There's nothing wrong with writing notes during meetings. Doing so is a major indicator of interested people, letting those around feel eased about participation parameters.

?

Introducing yourself to your new team is a thrilling experience for the True Leader. Nervousness gives way to interest. Concerns yields to facts. Pressures dissolve through completion. Do not let valid feelings dominate available choices. The introduction phase has now placed the cornerstone, called trust, into your “Outpost of Success”.

?

Work through the issues using some of the following points to lean on.

?

? Honest Presentation

? Take an Interest in Team Members

? Clear Communication

? Demonstrate Comebacks

? Illustrate Praise
