As I continue my interviews with some of the most transformational leaders in the world of sport for my upcoming book, Amplify, I find myself deeply inspired. These conversations are not just about their success; they delve into the philosophies and practices that have enabled them to lead with impact and we distil these into the ‘how’ in my new book.

Here are a few reflections that will resonate with anyone on their leadership journey—whether you're leading a team, an organisation, or your own personal goals. You may even recognise these traits in the exceptional leaders who have influenced you.

Great leaders have a unique ability to see the "promised land." They don’t just react to immediate challenges; they visualise what the future could look like and guide others towards it—even when the path is unclear. This clarity comes from rigorous research, cross-disciplinary thinking, and the courage to share a compelling vision with their team.??

Reflection for you: Have you taken time recently to define your "promised land"? Where do you want to guide your team or your life?

Identify your "change sponsor"—a high-level advocate who sees the bigger picture and can champion necessary transformations, especially when middle management resists change. These leaders also seek out external experts and "change agents" who challenge the status quo and inject fresh perspectives.??

Reflection for you: Who in your circle can help amplify your vision and drive change? Are you open to welcoming disruptors who bring new energy?

Genuine passion, coupled with unwavering effort, is a foundation for sustainable success. The leaders I've spoken with emphasise passion—not just as a personal driver but as an energy they seek in those they work with. It’s not about perfection, and it is about showing up with motivation and commitment every day. Reflection for you: How are you nurturing your passion and ensuring it fuels those around you? Are you creating space for your team to bring their best selves?

Transformational Performance Leadership isn’t just about strategy or results. It’s about vision, partnerships, legacy, sustained high performance and authenticity.??
