Leadership Training for Female Multipliers in the Circular Economy

In January 2024, the PREVENT Waste Alliance and the GIZ project Circular City Labs conducted a 5-days in-person Leadership Training. In line with Circular City Labs' mission to strengthen female change agents in the circular economy, this training was exclusively for female leaders.?

16 female changemakers from Albania, Colombia, Kosovo, Georgia, and South Africa met in Bonn (Germany) to grow together on their leadership journey. This training focused on four dimensions of leadership including leading self, leading teams, leadership in organizations, as well as leading social change.

The activity was financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Four women from Albania participated in the training. They come from different industries, all impactful in the implementation of circular economy principles and sustainability.

Denisa Bundo (second from right)

Denisa Bundo is a Public Health expert and an Innovation and Sustainable Development Specialist.

During the Leadership Training, she felt the most impact from the various methods used to share information. Denisa says that what made her go into a leadership mindset was the team collaboration exercises and the real-life case studies. Her main takeaway was “The trained train” and she aims to utilize that in her day-to-day activities.

Ledi Leka

Ledi Leka has more than two decades of experience in business consulting, recruitment, vocational education, and circular economy initiatives. Her passion to drive positive change benefited greatly from the training which provided her with tools pivotal for professional growth.

After this experience, Ledi intends to empower women in business to unlock their full potential without losing sight of themselves and to introduce circular transition and sustainability as integral components of her consulting process. She will promote these principles through her LinkedIn network, and the ‘Qarkonomia’ platform.


Teida Shehi

Teida Shehi has dedicated 15 years to various fields of waste management, always integrating circular economy principles. She has recently started her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering in the research field “Climate Change”.

This leadership training will help her analyze and identify possibilities for creating jobs in the field of waste recycling with a focus on empowering women's leadership.

Uarda Begaj

Uarda Begaj came back to her hometown of Tirana after ten years abroad to become the founder of two companies built with sustainability in mind: Hana Vintage and Hana Corner Café.

The leadership training on circular economy will help her better integrate the principles and inspire other women to do the same.
