Leadership in the times of Covid19 - an inspiring perspective
MATTHEW K. CROSS is what one would call “a leadership guru”. You need to put your hands on his books. We have had the honour to receive his counsel in strategic matter over the past years. I have asked him 3 questions on #leadership in the times of #Covid19 and I am sharing his thought-through answers.
- How does the future look for businesses and young entrepreneurs right now?
The future looks bright for those who expand their perspective, mindset and horizon and practice greater agility and elasticity in thinking. Clearly figuring out a way to transmit the essential value of whatever your business is onto the online world is a now a key priority. The ability to reach the world with your product or service has never been greater, faster and easier. Accelerating your ability to learn smarter/faster, act intelligently and partner with those who can help move in this direction is an imperative.
- What are the personality traits of a modern leader?
Understanding what leadership really is: Prediction—The ability to predict future outcomes with higher and higher degrees of accuracy. This builds trust which builds loyalty which builds profits that grow across time. This requires the discipline of asking better questions, increasing our flexibility and agility in thinking and enhancing our strategic perspective. We must also learn and adapt better ways of thinking, managing and leading ourselves and all those around us. But it begins with us—leadership is an inside job first.
In my many decades of working with leading organizations around the world, the Deming quality method is the most powerful predictive system for supporting enlightened leadership and greater success across the board in every industry.
Concurrently we must more consistently raise our frequency of thinking and being such that we are operating from a predominantly positive, optimistic and bright mindset. This releases our full capacity as leaders, inspirers and examples for all around us, including of course our team, colleagues, clients and prospects.
- In your opinion, what will be the long term impact of this modern crisis?
The gross and criminal exaggeration of this man-made bioweapon/virus to put people across the globe in mass fear such that they surrender their essential human freedoms and civil liberties and succumb to draconian levels of state surveillance and the real potential of near-future forced violation of people’s very bodies through mandatory vaccination, etc., is unprecedented in our lifetimes and in history.
If we do not honestly assess and act effectively on the root causes and disastrous yet probable direction of this global charade, the quality and quantity of our lives will be directly impacted, both near and long-term.
I am resolutely hopeful that a meaningful minority and even majority of humanity will wake up and reclaim their freedom, health and destiny. I look forward to further discourse and interaction along these lines…

4 年Quite a sharp perspective that I fully agree with! As far as Fear is concerned, fear is darkness, lack of knowledge, lack of solutions and lack of action. The opposite of fear therefore is light, correct information, creative solutions and purposeful action. That's what we need to do, not just contemplate. Cheers!
