"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and don't assign them task and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea." -Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Effective leadership comes from our actions, not from our words. Your job position, title, or rank have little to do with your ability to be an effective leader. Leadership is about a mission to be accomplished and process. It goes well beyond wielding power. The essence of a true leader is based on a clear sense of mission and ensuring that they strengthen their team by cultivating their needs.
Successful leadership is based on character and how you conduct yourself. The most potent currency for a leader is the strong moral and value based compass which will gain you credibility, loyalty and respect.
When leading by example it is important that you do not slip into "do as I say, not as I do leadership," this could be counterproductive to your goals. If you implement new rules to the business, you must also be willing to follow them.
Try to start each day inspired by your career and navigate the day through that inspiration.
