Roots ConnectED is the only anti-bias training for educators that teaches the practical skills of community building and critical thinking needed for creating intentionally integrated and inclusive school communities. It is for anyone who seeks ways to build community and connection across lines of differences in an era of racial and economic division. It is for those seeking to strengthen anti-bias eduction and DEI practices in their community. Roots ConnectED gives educators the tools to encourage deep connection among children not despite of their differences, but through honoring them. We know that work around matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion is hard and on-going and we value the process. We also believe that, to do this work well, we must approach it with love, patience, and a commitment to ongoing work. If you are interested in anti-bias education and having more inclusive school community, you may engage with Roots ConnectED in a few different ways: 1) Coaching: Deeper individualized work with a particular school or district to focus on one area of practice. Consulting includes creating and implementing work plans with members of leadership teams, professional development, and support with structures and procedures. We have 3 flexible models to choose from. 2) Institutes: 1-3 day intensive trainings designed to share school integration and inclusion practices with working teams from a particular school site. Institutes include classroom observations, educator panel discussions, and consultancies for group planning. 3) Workshops: Stand alone educational experiences including a range of topics, and offering concrete tools and examples that can be directly applied to participants’ own school communities. Workshops include specific curricular examples, hands-on activities, and connection to practice. We also offer workshops for families and caregivers around topics of identity, race, and power; centered in best practices of conscious parenting.

'Centering Our Humanity: Anti-Bias Culture and Curriculum Institute' is a unique professional development opportunity for any educator or school leader eager to advance anti-bias practices at their school site! Taking place this December 9-11th, 2024 at our learning site, Community Roots, the Institute offers teams of 3-5 from a school site the opportunity to explore the theory and practice around the elements of our Anti-Bias Education Framework while building an anti-bias lens to curricula and learning how to develop staff to be leaders in this work.
