One of the most common skill leaders in our economy are missing, is giving clear direction and following through. Often leaders assume that their team or an individual employee understood what they is asking for.
However, the truth is that very often the employee or employees didn’t get it fully and are afraid to ask if the leader can explain again what he ask for exactly. The fact of not having the job explained well enough and not getting the feedback from the team that they didn’t understood the job correctly, cost companies lots of money every day.
Here are some easy ways to avoid. The leader should implement a follow up shortly after the team or individual started the job to make sure everybody is on track and the expected results are coming. The team or individual should give feedback right away if the job wasn’t explained well enough or some information were missing.
It’s takes courage and sometimes a change of culture in a company to do that, but it’s worth it and can bring positive changes. We can learn theses skills by working with horses as teachers and that’s for some simple reasons. Horses give feedback in a millisecond if a leader didn’t give clear direction. They don’t care about your job title or position in a company. They are also not afraid to give honest feedback, they can’t lie. It’s that simple.
