Hello, DigiVerse enthusiasts!
It's rather an exciting week in the world of tech, especially AI with Sam Altman's exit but there is so much more happening!
Don't worry I'm here to bring you the hottest news.
Grab your coffee, and let's dive in!
1. Dramatic Changes at OpenAI: Sam Altman's Unexpected Exit
In a twist that caught everyone off guard, OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman was suddenly removed by the Board of Directors last Friday. Almost no one expected it (including Sam Altman himself) as Sam attended Dev event just the day before.
He was abruptly informed of his removal through a last-minute Google Meet link (the most ironic detail of an already bizarre story.
The reasons? Issues with his transparency in communication.?
Adding to the drama, co-founder Greg Brockman also stepped down, followed by a wave of senior executive exits.?
Now, Mira Mutari steps in as interim CEO while a permanent replacement is sought. And guess what??
There's a buzz that Altman might make a comeback, with a push from Google's Satya Nadella. This could lead to the entire board resigning! But for now, Altman's return seems unlikely, and this turmoil might impact OpenAI's stock significantly.
2. SpaceX's Starship Soars in Second Test Flight
SpaceX's Starship embarked on its second journey,? on November 18, going further than ever. Marking a new milestone in space exploration.
Though the mission required the destruction of the Super Heavy booster and Starship upper stage, the test was a remarkable success. The launch showcased a successful new water deluge system and a hot staging separation technique. It's stellar!
At this point, getting Starship operational is key to SpaceX’s mission. In the nearer term, that mission is being able to launch many, many dozens of heavier Starlink satellites at once; in the longer term, that’s using the cash flow from the improved Starlink constellation to fund a mission to Mars.
But SpaceX is not the only entity banking on Starship’s success. NASA has also pegged itself to SpaceX’s ship, awarding the company contracts topping out at around $4 billion to develop a lunar landing system using Starship to bring astronauts to the moon for the space agency’s Artemis program. That first landing mission, Artemis III, is currently slated for 2025.

Meta, the parent of Facebook, is shaking things up. They've dissolved their responsible AI division amid a broader restructuring.?
As the company nears the end of its "year of efficiency," team members from the AI division are joining forces with the generative AI product division and the AI infrastructure team.
Meta, keen on not falling behind in the AI race, has also introduced two new AI-powered generative models: Emu Video for video generation and Emu Edit for precision image editing
4. AI: The Key to a Shorter Work Week?
A thinktank study from Autonomy suggests AI could lead to a 4-day work week for nearly a third of workers in Britain and the US.?
By incorporating large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT into workplaces, 28% of workers in Britain and the US, a four-day workweek could become a reality while maintaining pay and performance.?
This shift could not only optimize work practices but also improve overall work-life balance.
This approach could prevent mass unemployment and reduce mental and physical health issues, making work-life balance a reality for millions.
TikTok’s latest feature lets users make AR filters
TikTok is revolutionizing content creation with its new feature allowing users to create video effects directly within the app.
This update eliminates the need for a separate program, previously used for making filters. Users can now use filter templates and over 2,000 assets to design interactive filters activated by gestures like tapping, winking, and smiling.
This development comes after TikTok recently initiated a creator fund, recognizing the efforts of developers who have been creating popular effects for free.
In the TikTok mobile app, users can work off of filter templates and experiment with more than 2,000 assets to use in their effects. They’ll also be able to add interactivity in filters that are triggered through movements like tapping the screen, winking, smiling, and more.
Well, that's it for this week's DigiVerse scoop.
Stay tuned for more updates next week!!
