On Leadership

On Leadership

Leadership, by Henry Kissinger, even if you’re not a fan of the author, it doesn’t mean you cannot appreciate this book. Henry Kissinger studies of six 20th Century leaders contemporary to his political career close to the White House aims to the understanding and categorizing of a political leader attribute trough the political lives of Konrad Adenauer, Charles de Gaulle, Richard Nixon, Anwar Sadat, Lee Kuan Yew and Margareth Tatcher. You don’t need to read them all, just pick your most knowable (or to learn from someone you are not acquainted as I did with Konrad Adenauer), and you will learn important attributes of a political leader. The author separated the leader under 2 main traits, the Statesman and the Prophet, I leave to the reader to decide where each Leader fits in.

I strongly recommend the Introduction, don’t miss it, it is an extraordinary essay of the nature of Leadership, where it describes the axes of Leadership, the nature of leadership decisions and the importance of their context.

If you have I time to read it, study the introduction and pick your Leader study.
