Leadership Is A Responsibility

Behind every success story are setbacks and obstacles that are part of the journey. The key to remember is that success is not built on success, it’s built on failure. Pushing your limitations in the face of rejection drives inspiration and keeps you determined, committed and consistent towards your goal.?

Being the founder of a business is never easy. You need to scrape and claw for every opportunity that comes your way and capitalise on each situation. Let’s take the example of Richard Branson. After dropping out of school at 16, he started his own business, a magazine called “Student”. His entrepreneurial spirit has been apparent through the years, even while he combatted dyslexia. In fact he has often attributed his success to his condition, believing that it helped him learn the art of delegation, focus and leadership.?

Every Failure Is A Step Closer To Success

Reading about such inspirational stories, and drawing from my own journey, has made me realise that being a leader is a responsibility indeed. The path to success is challenging, and each failure brings its own set of disappointments. Our responsibility in such a scenario is to take each setback in our stride and look inward. For me personally, I have tried to improve every step of the way and identify my weaknesses.?

Returning to my professional calling after focusing on motherhood, I knew I needed to put my head down, grind it out and figure out the path to achieving my goal. Not placing the blame when things went wrong on another individual or the situation was ingrained in me. Instead I learned to focus on how to get it done. And that is a crucial quality I try to look for in my team - the ability to shake it off and keep moving ahead, to believe that it is not how you fail, but how you recover that matters.?
