Leadership and Political Reform

My simple and straight forward take on how to reform the political system in the United States for maximum ROI by eliminating political parties. Yes, I said it.

After all we have been experimenting for over 200 years with an idea called "THE USA".

Politics has an OUTSIZED impact on a nation i.e.??its citizen, and any and all activities a nation undertakes to serves its people and the world, be it social, economic, humanitarian, etc.?

Political parties are so 1800. We are in the 4th?industrial revolution and in the 21st?century and therefore in my humble opinion?we cannot grow as human beings/society with limited identity?i.e.,?tied to two or more political parties and their limited ideologies.?

We as a society and human being MUST be able to associate and take on unlimited identities based on the subject or issue on hand.?None of us born with limited identity and hence should not die with limited identity.

We must question the ROI of our current system and its effectiveness in solving some of societies’ most basic needs to global challenges like governance and competency, climate crisis, environmental degradation, deforestation, global education and health, pollution, human trade, threat of pandemic, rapid extinction of species, etc.?

Therefore, I respectfully invite you to read my take with an open mind.

I do not have all the answers but I am willing to question our collective mindset and urge us to find the wisdom to amend the system so it can serve the nation and the humanity better for thousands of years to come.

Possible Alternative:

1.?????Eliminate all political parties- Yes, I said it. They are obsolete.

2.?????Eliminate nominating people for cabinet position, they must earn it by getting elected.

3.?????Adopt the format used by the?“National Spelling Bee Competition”?to elect the most qualified, experienced, and visionary leaders for respective cabinet positions. For example, if someone want to be a?Secretary of XYZ, the process will work like this:

a.?????Anyone?in the country can nominate themselves or can be nominate by peers, friends, family, etc?for FREE through?an online national registry. This will ensure opportunity for all.?

b.?????These individuals will then have to debate on the basis of their ideas, experience, results, vision, and execution plan, for the future starting at the city level. Through the process of elimination, we will end up with 2-3 top candidates at the national level.

c.?????These 2-3 top candidate’s name should be on the national ballot?and the people can vote to elect them as the Secretary of State, or Defense, or education, etc.

d.?????These debates should be televised/streamed in a tiered manner, i.e. first at the county and state level and once the state level candidates are selected then at the national level so that?all of our citizens can familiarize themselves with the candidates background and vison, so as to a make an informed decision at the time of voting.?

e.?????This has the potential of taking corporate money and influence out of politics and put it right back in the hands of the ordinary electorate, the way democracy must work.??

f.??????Runners up are the backup by default, which can come in handy in the event we need to replace the original candidate with another for any reason.?

g.?????Similarly,?Presidential candidates?need to run at a?national level without any party affiliation?to make their case as to how they will lead a nation with these elected officials (cabinet members). How they will bring them together, build trust, drive the bills and legislations, bring about compromise and reconciliations. How will they make sure that the nation continues to make progress based on the ideas and execution unrestricted by the two-party system and their mindset and ideology. Presidential candidates need to demonstrate proven level of competence, courage, compassion, determination, intelligence and understanding of broad set of topics, etc. Bottom line like a CEO of a company where ideally, he/she is not making decisions based on political ideologies but best ideas for innovation, problem solving, sustainability, adoptability, returns, and greater good of the society at large. There are major differences between running a company vs a country that must not be forgotten and kept front and center during decision making.?????

In closing, just like an individual, family, company, community etc., a nation needs good structure, values, and culture, as a backbone to stand on.?

As it stands today, our nation and the world seem to be at a crossroad to redefine “Who we want to be when we grow up”. I personally do not see how we can define that without having some structure and facts we all agree on, a common set of values, and a common set of culture.??It is also clear to me that what has worked in the past may/will not work in the future, if not backed by a common set of facts, values, and culture, as this will undermine strategy every day of the week. Last I checked that is the definition of INSANITY!!!

I urge the reader to share their objective solutions/comments on the topic by?adopting a mindset of unlimited identity and unchaining themselves?from the limited mindset of political parties, corporations, influence of money, personal bias, etc. I leave you with a food for thought from non other than Rumi...

I love this and agree with you Ravi. When I'm brought to a company to strength teamwork, communication, and morale, I do not begin by siloing departments and people. Nor would I teach others to blame or assume the worst in others who may have diverse opinions or experiences. We are all Earth Citizens and innovation is one of our greatest strengths. Thus, I love how you pointed out a problem and then offered practical solutions! If you are not part of the solution, you are likely part of the problem. Well done, Ravi! :)
