Leadership is overemphasized!

I heard it again tonight.  "Leaders do the right things, managers do things right."  And for added emphasis, something about how awful it is to do the wrong thing in the right way.  As a student of leadership, formally and not, since 1980, this has bothered me.

We have defined leadership by what leaders do, and what they are not (managers).  But the problem is these definitions all seem to pigeon hole people into being one or the other.  We all know that is not true.  I wrote about this a little over five years ago in my blog.  I would appreciate your thoughts on that article. https://jimvasconcellos.blogspot.com/2011/01/defining-leadership-managment.html#more
