The Leadership Moment- 30
#FriendsofAfrica #FOA2019- The #DifferenceMakers
Saturday 12th October 2019: What a Day !
It started the night before....an announcement that the main HWY leading to Downtown Toronto-Delta-Marriott Hotel, venue of #FOA2019 Summit would be closed for repairs on #FOA Day 2. After-all it was Thanksgiving weekend.
Then started an early morning pouring rain...that should have kept any soul snoring in the comfort of a great bed. But it was Day 2 of the 9th Edition of Friends of Africa Summit. Delegates had arrived from various African countries and North America...and so my journey to Toronto was imperatively given (we had planned and prepd for this day); it started cautiously but determinedly, with trepidation yet some faith in the blessed assurance of providential help.....and help came indeed......DM me for details !
It was really humbling to see that most delegates braved the pouring, and road closure, for the early morning session. Leaders, startups, businesses across vertical sectors, and government levels from Africa chose to defy the rains to keep the scheduled time....a true indication of the "Africa Rising" Narrative. More recently, great Leaders from the Continent appear to be sending a clear message to the World that Africa is not only looking to revamp, reform, and re-ignite her economies, but is willing to invest in the people that will effectively and efficiently execute and operationalize her economies at various levels.
To all the public and private sector groups from Africa (Morocco, Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Kenya, & South Africa) and their N/American counterparts (Canada & US), there are no words to describe your single-mindedness and commitment to business and economic development of Canada, Africa, and the diaspora. We can only say well done and thank you.
To our Keynotes, who not only showed up, but stayed the course through the 2-day Summit, G2G, and B2B meetings, we say thank you for being the #differencemakers at #FOA2019. Your presence, wisdom, insights, and contributions have demonstrated true leadership, and will be remembered. We trust you to honour our call soon again.
