LEADERSHIP MEANS TAKING A BREAK WHEN YOU NEED IT

LEADERSHIP MEANS TAKING A BREAK WHEN YOU NEED IT

Hello, it's Stacey Ashley here.

As you probably know I write an article each week to be shared with the people who follow me and it normally has some tips about leadership or change or coaching and some of the related areas.

This week I am going to give myself the gift of a little bit of space because I feel that that's what I need.? So I'm not indulging, but I'm taking a moment for some self-care. This will just give me an hour back where I can relax.

I'm currently in Townsville. It's a beautiful day outside and I'm near a pool, so I figured that I could make something there work. I know that the benefit to me is going to be huge, and therefore the benefit to all the people that I serve in different capacities is also going to be huge.

The message here is sometimes it's completely okay to look after yourself first as a leader. To make sure that you're setting yourself up to continue leading at your best as much of the time as you possibly can.

I encourage you to take a leaf out of my book, and when you need it, to take that moment to breathe, to rest, and recover. To re-energise to do something that works for you, because you and your leadership will be better for it.

I'll see you next week.

Great insights Stacey. Its very easy to be so busy that even the thought of a break is too hard. But as Stephen Covey said unless you "take time to sharpen the axe" you are going to become far less efficient and ultimately your body will send you a message.
