?“LEADERSHIP MATTERS!” - Series

Article-1 –

It’s always a time to learn, unlearn, relearn, reassess, revisit, rejuvenate our life, which has been rudely shaken by present situations personally, socially, nationally and globally, out of the man-made calamities such as wars, and natural upheavals. And the result is, getting into shell, feeling helpless, and perennially getting into vortex of worries, tensions, not doing the best and not giving the best. ?All of us have huge potential locked up withing us, which is not even known to us, which remains dormant and unused for lifetime. All of us get used to definite patterns of life, called comfort zones around us. Very few have attitude to brake, this comfort zone and create newer challenges and grab the great opportunities. Those few emerge as the role models, in their chosen way of life, followed by others. We call them LEADERS!

Do these role models do it for others? For Self, more often than not! They do it for themselves, not necessarily for others. People follow them. Strange, isn’t it? Management science if full of theories of Leadership, with endless types with the permutation and combinations of various skills called COMPITENCIES, which make them standout from others in general. Of late in the corporate, industrial, business world, Leadership is the topic which is most talked about and churned adding newer insights to the mind-boggling aspects of different types of leadership. People often tend to forget that all the creations in the form of research and development, innovations, creativity causing disruptions of established practices are not products of Machines but created by the Men behind the Machines. There are people who do it and the People who make them do it and who get it done, expanding horizons of known, delving into unknown and bringing it into realities, continuously crossing the frontiers of achievements and taking it forward to futuristic possibilities, probabilities and predictabilities aimed at prosperity of the human beings, in this already shrunk globe called Mother Earth. Ayn Rand author of Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged writes that human capabilities are fathomless, saying that Man may create New Sun, as the scientists are saying that Sun is shrinking and over several trillion years, it may cease to exist. An urge to survive, grow and sustain is fundamental human spirit and trait, which made him change and survive and that is why Homo sapiens emerged as the leaders over other living beings on this planet. All the innovations are finally the result of some Leader, who has the Vision, Mission, Values, and the Leadership with exceptional resilience, incorrigible optimism, tremendous Self-confidence and most importantly the Confidence in Others!

In this series of “Leadership Matters!”, we are going to understand what is Leadership all about! Today’s world around is the result of the final impact of various leaders and their leadership functions from all the socio-economic-industrial-political-social-religious-spiritual domains for the last 5000 years of reasonably known human history. We have to learn from the past, we have to face and deal with the present and have to plan and prepare for the future, where in Leadership aspect is of paramount importance. Our Leadership thinking and actions are linked with the roles we are playing in our professional life, personal life and also in our social life. These are interlinked, making us think and emote whether we are leading only Self, or Others as well. More often we are not sure, whether we are leading or being lead.

In this series of “LEADERSHIP MATTERS”, I am going to share whatever little, I could understand several dimensions of leadership from the exposure, the experience, the observations, teaching received from some great leaders from various domains of industries, corporate and business sectors, social development sectors, Govt. sector and even MSMEs. Leadership is boundless phenomenon, which has built this world beginning from stone-age!
