Leadership Is ... Making Positive Changes #370

Leadership Is … Making Positive Changes #370

Happy New Year to each of you.

Those of you who work with me, are close friends or know me well will recognize a favorite question. I use it after a birthday, anniversary or especially around a New Year. Here’s the phrase.

“What are you going to do different after this special occasion?”

Many people respond with a new idea, a habit they want to change, a hobby to start or a family or friend to call. Others respond with “Nothing.” Hmm!

Research tells us that 80% of New Year’s resolutions or goals don’t last until the end of January. Hmm!

Let’s briefly review four scripture verses, then I’ll ask you my favorite question again.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run?with perseverance?the race marked out for us,?fixing our eyes on Jesus,?the pioneer?and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross,?scorning its shame,?and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.??Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary?and lose heart.” (Hebrews 12:1-3)

Or, let me restate my life verse.

?“If my people, who are called by my name,?will humble?themselves and pray and seek my face?and turn?from their wicked ways, then I will hear?from heaven, and I will forgive?their sin and will heal?their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Let’s focus on your personal life, your work life, your church life, your family life and especially your relationship with our Heavenly Father. Let’s prayerfully dream about what changes we, collectively could make if each of us set a new goal to live more prayerfully, carefully and more active for God.

“What are you going to do different this next year?”
