Leadership - Make a Difference

As a leader who is a Mentor and Coach to other leaders and individual contributors, I take this TRUST and privilege with great thought. I always challenge my fellow peers by asking “what have you done to MAKE A DIFFERENCE today?”. You see, although my job for any organization I chose to work is to build and develop high performing teams by way of developing the best Leadership Teams in the business. I do this by making sure I’m meeting my #1 goal….and that is to Make a Difference in the lives of others, my team and build a culture of SUCCESS. If I see a problem, I fix it. I don’t wait for someone else to do it, because that person may never come along. See a need fill a need! Hope is not a strategy. Leaders see the vision, chart the path and inspire others to follow them to success. Leaders must earn (and deserve) the right to lead, and not rely on having it “bestowed on them.” The great leaders take charge, get results, and take less than their share of the credit (for success) and more than their share of the blame (for failure).
Making a difference requires leadership. Understand what motivates you and act. Develop the ability to lead yourself, so you can lead others and make an impact. The time is now to make a difference.
Speaking of motivating. A speech given at a graduation by Denzel Washington really resonated with me as a leader, mom, wife, daughter and sister. It focuses on “Making a difference” and really challenges us to do just that as leaders and those who mentor others. Here’s what I learned and feel free to play the video (I attached below) and share your thoughts.
· Identify and follow your passion
· Don’t be afraid to fail..
· Don’t be afraid to go outside the box
· Dreams without goals is just dreams and they ultimately fuel disappointment
· To achieve your goals you must apply discipline and consistency
· We don’t plan to fail we fail to plan
· Successful people work hard and hard work WORKS
· Just because you’re doing a lot more doesn’t mean you’re getting a lot done
· Don’t confuse movement with progress
· Each one teach one
· Don’t just aspire to make a living aspire to Make a Difference
