Leadership Loneliness
Being a C-level person or a leader at a senior position may seem extremely glorious. And it is! To become the one is so attempting to many. Therefore professionals strive to reach that point in their careers. But.. the beauty of being the leader changes its intensity as soon as you realise that apart from all the shiny benefits “The Leader” status gives you, major pile of responsibilities you can’t share with anyone stands just next to you. You can’t ignore it, you can't delegate it and sometimes you can’t discuss it with anyone.
So there you are with your responsibilities and decisions to be made..alone. You just need to do it - make decisions that affects not only you but also your business and people. And do it right. There are of course many daily decisions to be made with low impact on business operations and people working in the company - those in a while become “zero risk” decisions - easy and fast to make. Such a glorious version of being a leader!
And then there are decision with a high impact potential, with high risk of win-lose or even lose-lose outcome. The tough decisions under uncertainties and unknown variables should be made. The higher you are in the position or you are an entrepreneur, the more impactful decisions you have to make. “Fun” part starts when you cannot make everyone happy and there is no option to do things right. Only option is to do the right thing. All the accountability of the outcome is yours. How about this version of being a leader? :) Not so shiny anymore.
The cliché “with great power comes great responsibility” brings 100% truth in every letter of this saying.
I can assure, there are ZERO leaders and entrepreneurs who can do that already from the very first time. You learn it - mainly by doing, by failing and messing everything up, and then trying again.

Up there can be rather lonely - rewarding, challenging, fun, exciting - but also lonely.
As soon as you understand and accept to the bone that you cannot hide behind anyones back with your decisions made (mistakes made, victories won), it frees up your energy.
It makes you become mature as a leader. It makes you learn how to turn that loneliness into empowerment. The sooner you feel fine with this leadership loneliness, the faster you grow and quicker identify where you can get a help, what to delegate, so your energy is saved for the decisions you have to make.
