Leadership Lessons for Presidents' Day

A 2021 Rasmussen poll shows that 80% of Americans still view the Founding Fathers favorably.

But with confidence in government institutions and respect for elected officials at all time lows in recent years across both parties and various administrations, it doesn't seem like most of us are too excited about Presidents' Day.

Want to be a great company leader and avoid "presidential" pitfalls? Get back to basics:

  1. Don't misrepresent yourself to get a job.
  2. Tell people what they actually need to hear, not just what they want to hear.
  3. Accept that nepotism is a bad idea.
  4. Admit when you have made a mistake.
  5. Know that leading and inspiring people always wins out over controlling and demeaning them.
  6. Take responsibility when things go wrong and get to work fixing it, don't just pass the buck.
  7. Don't gaslight people, it's not ok. Their experiences are real and valid.
  8. Give us all the facts, even when the news is bad. We're grown ups, we can handle it!
  9. TELL. THE. TRUTH.
  10. Repeat #9.

Happy Presidents' Day!
