As a huge fan of the iconic "?? Gun" movie released in May 1986??, I had high expectations on the new movie "?? Gun: Maverick" which finally got released in April 2022, after a major delay caused by the global pandemic.
As times have changed (and I became "older"), I started to see the main actor "Maverick" played by Tom Cruise from a different angle and I realized we all can learn about leadership from the ?? gun fighter-pilot "Maverick".

Here are the top 5 leadership lessons we can learn from the famous "wingman" Maverick:?
1?? TAKE INITATIVE - Pete's primary leadership lesson is, that initiative is key. He often takes the initiative and puts himself in obvious difficult situations in order to prove his worth. By taking initiative, Maverick clearly shows that he is more than others willing to put himself out there and take risks. This is a great example of how leaders should be willing to step out of their comfort zones and try something new in order to achieve success.
2?? BE COURAGEOUS - Capt. Pete Mitchell is a brave leader who is not afraid to take risks in order to achieve his goals. The pilot often takes risks that would be too much for most people, such as flying close to the ground in order to make a risky landing. This courage is inspiring and teaches us that sometimes you have to take risks in order to achieve success.
